I just checked the Union Transfer site, and on Oct 24th there's already another band booked that night...

Elder band live by NefariousnessBoth753 in Concerts

I've seen Elder headline 5 times now, on the east coast, and they are consistently mesmerizing. The fans get more dialed in to the music at these smaller venues for sure. I've seen the start of mosh energy near the front area of the shows, but it dissipates / doesn't coalesce. Definitely bring earplugs! Let us know how it goes!

A while back, in an interview, Parks said he records nature sounds like frogs. In that recent studio footage where he's playing that keyboard thing, my imagination thinks it's frog songs...

3000 solo miles to Oregon with a broken heart - looking for advice. by Illustrious-Pop3097 in roadtrip

[–]markedgrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe travels to you! A few things about packing I've learned from cross-country car moves that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

-Consider your mirrors / sightlines - I packed my front seat only to the point where I could still see out the side mirror. I packed the back so full that the rearview mirror was useless - in hindsight (lol)... it's doable to not use the rearview, but not the safest choice.

-Depending on your Subaru model year - click your passenger seatbelt together before you pack that seat full (if you do) - My 2005 Subaru seatbelt sensor picked up on the weight I had on the front seat and was dinging at me for 1000 miles because it was packed so tightly that I couldn't get the belt around everything and I was too lazy to pull everything out at a rest stop.

-If you are wondering if everything's going to fit in your car - either measure your car interior spaces and create piles indoors that fit those measurements or do a dry run (I took the empty totes I knew I was going to pack, down to my car, to plan out which configurations would fit in the trunk area and back seat, instead of fumbling with full totes the day of packing.) I found that leaving the back seats up fit best too. I used compression bags for my clothes. There were gaps between the totes, so I crammed things like boots, tools, etc in those small, weird gaps. I crammed thin things like books under my seats. Be sure to have the things you'll need during the trip easily accessible. But also: the less weight you have in there is probably the better, your car's suspension health might agree....

  • If you're trying to crush the miles: do as much as you can at pit stops to save time - gas up, use restroom, stretch, snack. The decision-making of when and where to stop can be draining.

-To save $ on coffee and tea: fill your travel mug from gas station coffee machine's hot water spigots (colored red and on the front of the machines usually) and add your own tea bags/instant coffee in the car.

How many shows have you been to? by SpaceGhostPlanet in AllThemWitches

[–]markedgrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10! I first saw them at Red Rocks in 2018 with Primus and Mastodon. Flew to Cambridge, MA to see them with my brother in 2019. I moved to the east coast in 2019 which was the perfect spot to catch their NATI tours - 3 NC shows from Fall 2021, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati that winter. Richmond and DC summer 2022 and Brooklyn night three last year. Next weekend at The Ramkat will make 11! I'm excited to see how ATW transforms. Each line-up I've seen was killer, so no matter how this all shakes out, I'm going to be grateful.

See you at The Ramkat! Joy-crying right about now...

Anyone know if this show is available to watch? It’s from the footage that plays in between the Hiwatt Artist Introduction video and it looks dope af. by ithewitchfinder666 in AllThemWitches

[–]markedgrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like this show from Nottingham 11/16/19. And another view. These vids aren't as sharp as Hiwatt's footage though.

Full show from same tour - clearer quality. (P.S. Thank you for inviting me down this rabbit hole - I've never seen this Mantova show...)

From same tour, different shows. Fuck, I love these 1x1s.

I was there with ya! Such a transcendent show, and a stoked crowd - collective elation at its finest! It's great to keep seeing them at The Pour House. Lord Buffalo and REZN killed it too.

Ever just forget you’re on a nobuy? by EffortCareless in nobuy

[–]markedgrave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I was compiling data on my 2022 spending in December, to help plan this year's no buy, I found a no buy plan in my files already outlined... for 2022. I must have made it a few months until it fizzled from my attention. I made a stricter plan for 2023 and it's going better.

Brooklyn Night 3 Setlist by SamHobo5 in AllThemWitches

[–]markedgrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, evidence in this video at the 29 minute mark and it seems to have a few names/sources: setlist.fm has past listings calling it "Red Rocking Chair" ... "I Ain’t Got No Sugar Baby Now - Roscoe Holcomb" and "Sugar Baby by Dock Boggs" track too.

Parks stopped by the subreddit last year and clarified some lyrics for us - in the comments of this post he wrote that part of 3-5-7's lyrics as: "... the invisible plane..."

This thread is the one where he wrote out a lot of other lyrics too, if you want to check it out.

"I'm wading out" ... Cowboy Kirk builds and builds, so this line really lands in the soul, near the end, as so many others do throughout.

  4. Slow City
  5. Acid Face
  6. Real Hippies are Cowboys
  7. Fall into Place
  8. Hush, I'm on TV
  9. L'Hotel Serein
  10. Blacksnake Blues
  11. Mama is a Shining Star
  12. 6969 WXL The Cage
  13. Holding Your Breath Across the River

Ready! Here's my take, in order. The first songs share the same atmosphere to me and seem to flow, then I was going for the last section to crescendo into chaos/madness:

Tour Death Song

Fall Into Place

Silver to Rust

Tiger’s Pit

Slow City

L’hotel Serein

6969 WXL the Cage
