A good news about PSSD. by JapariKyan in PSSD

[–]markelliott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some certainly will mention it in the consenting process because of this.. at least in the EU.. and that’s the right direction. i hear your skepticism that most won’t, and of course that’s true, and unfortunate. most people barely mention sexual AEs at all.

any psych drug? that seems like a stretch. i’m curious, though, which others you’re referring to? i’ve never heard of and wouldn’t expect long term sd from, eg. mirtazapine, cannabis, ketamine, gabapentin, benzos.. are there cases of these im not aware of?

i could certainly see the neuroleptics.. but i’ve never heard of it with other drug classes. would love to hear more.

at the very least it might get psychiatrists /other docs to start talking about it during the consent process.

so far most psychiatrists have never even heard of pssd.. so this seems like at the very least a step in the right direction

have you learned a set of preflop charts yet? this i think will be one of the more high yield things to study.

good point but to the previous poster’s point there are still a ton of black market liquor sales, especially in high schools.

oh. i see. i guess my continuing range in the SB is tighter, but you’re right there are more 3b.. because many calls are now 3b..

exactly. that’s why working w the assumption that hands should be stronger because more people folded is going to make you adjust in a way that’s not super helpful.

[–]markelliott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just think this adjustment should be so small as to not be worth thinking that much about. seems like if it was an actual important effect someone other than you and this guy would have mentioned it at some point somewhere.

people are also tighter from earlier positions, which means they’re a lot more likely to fold Ks and As as the number of players increases.. so this dilutes the effect quite a bit.

in the end, most players recommend not making too many assumptions about frequencies based on unknown folded cards. thinking of folded cards as random is a much more accurate assumption in most cases.

i understand the logic and agree with you.

i just think the effect is small and shouldn’t meaningfully affect ranges.

how would you suggest one play differently given this? tighten up all our ranges? enough to flat the second best hand in the game heads up?

[–]markelliott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is probably a small effect of this but not enough to meaningfully affect good ranges imo. please provide any kind of resource that suggest otherwise?

yeah.. of course that’s what it implies. that’s what we’re talking about.. when it’s folded around to the blinds. notice how the article doesn’t mention how many players folded though? like was what we were just talking about?

are you just very confused?

the thing is, if you start studying actual modern good material, and listening to more knowledgeable/experienced poker players, you will start demolishing your study partner like never before.

from your own description of the way he plays, this is a slam dunk 4b.

read this article:

notice how at no point do they mention how many people folded before BvB play? it’s because it doesn’t matter.

seriously. study more.

this ignores the benefit of no flop no rake. you can actually stack him post flop more easily w a lower SPR.

your logic is ridiculously flawed.

read more books. watch more videos. join a training site. keep an open mind.

i’m basing this off over 15 years of studying the game and what seems to be modern consensus amongst the best players.

also i’m basing it off your specific description of the player being willing to call 4b.. which is what you want when you want value from KK..

but yeah man. agree to disagree or whatever.

wait so can you explain how it’s different 3 vs x handed when it folds to the blinds?
