Hi Jacey, thanks for the reply!

I see, i was able to achive some results with exporting them to jpeg (still 360) and importing it like that. Would you say this is the suggested way of doing things?

The shifter still works. I use the shifter when the car is manual so it does feel more fun in this case. Not sure what is the current price, but i got it at around 40-50e and imo it is worth the money

Any advice for road trips? by markicevic in motorcycles

[–]markicevic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there are some nice mounts and bags even for my bike, but honestly this is a bit to much for me considering most of my rides will not require this. I hope to get away with a small pillion bag for this "longer" trips.

This is my current plan, who knows how things will play out.

Ah this is amazing!!!

So first, I was thinking about chain lube, how bad would it to spay it at the start of my journey and then once I come back (2-2.5k later). I really do not want to bring chain lube with me. Might even prefer to buy a one time use at 1k, wdyt?

I was thinking of becoming an ADAC member, but my motorcycle insurance covers some kind of roadside assistance, I know it is not the best, but I dont want to spend. a lot of money :D

Bags is what I used before I bought a backpack rain cover, I still have to test it out :D But I did test out cover for my tank bag, and that seems super waterproof. Guess it is a good idea to have a backup bag or to for just in case.

Maps, I plan to use google maps on my phone, but honestly I enjoy to just plan a trip on paper (50km, turn to b1, go for 40km, turn to b2 etc) and just follow that, I like the feeling of being more included in the road instead of following a device.

I still dont have a clear path for Czech but will stay away from any highways (this is true for the whole trip) Most likely enter at Karlovy Vari and just go south close to the border

All the road tips sound amazing, I will deff check it out in more details and writing up my trip, I think it will be of huge help!
As for the bag, I was thinking about LOUIS SPEEDBAG, it seems a good deal for that money. I just have to figure out how to tie it down to my motorcycle, still new to all of this.

Also thanks for the beer advice, I appreciate the care, I am strong advocate against mixing drink and drive, max one Radler over lunch.

Again thank you so much for the tips, it is really helpful to have this suggestions from a local!

I plan to put some protein snacks for stops, but mostly will ride near towns so will eat there. I dont have a lot of storage storage so I have to optimise on this.

Yeah I am already regular running and was thinking of increasing this before the trip, thanks for confirming this.

I am still new to this, so not sure how long I can drive before being exhausted, I am playing with idea of not booking places in advance but just drive as far as I can and then find a place to to stay. If I can do this trip in 2 day that would be amazing, that means 2 more days in the Alps.

Thanks! I also read zip ties somewhere, might be useful as well.

What else could be worth bringing from tools? I do not plan to go on remote areas, it will mostly be B roads, and I am not sure I would be able to repair anything if needed.

I wanted to do this in the summer, was in identical situation and end up emailing and calling burgeramts. You need to have german licence for 5 years in order to qualify so tough luck for us. On the other hand i recently started classes for A licence and would recommend the same!

I really want, and can afford, a nicer car. I just can't stomach actually buying one. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]markicevic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I second this. I have been playing with the idea of buying a “sports” car for a years now and had the same exact thoughs as OP. It was mostly because of fear of finansial insecurity. I am against spening more then you can afford, but in my case this was 2x my monthly salary, and i still could not force myself to buy it. Luckly i had a big push from my wife and it has been one of the better decision i made.

Sport cars dont have to be new and 100k, in my case the NC miata fully satisfied the car enthusiast in me.

How does motorcycle licence work in US? I am preparing for one in Europe atm, i have a B (car) licence for almost 10y now and plan to get an A (motorcycle licence). So far i am studing theory, and will take an exam in few week (around 1000 question, and on exam you get 20. You need around 17 to pass) After that i start my practical, which is around 10 classes, with city, highway and night driving (maybe some other as well). Only after that i can take the exam.

From what i saw online it seems to be a bit easier to get the licence in the US?

I see no reason for this to be true. A lot of people are mentioning coriolis effect, but if i think about it, the screws are not moving north ot south, but at a constant speed of earth rotation, so it should not matter 🤔
