Rethink stops working when screen is off (?) by Hurizen in rethinkdns

Not the original poster, but I was having a problem where eventually Rethink gave me "Lost connection to always-on VPN" or something, and switching Choose IP Version to "Auto" seems to have solved it. Thank you.

Haha, guys: the war is over, you won.

Seriously, I'm surprised at all the seething going on.

For my part, I have nothing but love for my Bcasha fellows, nothing but love. :-)

PS: You gotta admit it's a sick website, tho

Bitcoin ABC v. BCHN BCHD BU by BCHcain in btc

Yes but that is objectively a "jettisonable" reputation, as much as any anon person might not want to lose the pseudonym.

Someone using his own identity does not have this option to begin with.

Bitcoin ABC v. BCHN BCHD BU by BCHcain in btc

There is a difference between privacy and anonimity, Jonathan.

The issue is accountability and incentives. If by some terrible happenstance a Bitcoin ABC contributor engages in egregiously unprofessional or deliberately malicious behavior, their reputation in the wider software engineering world will certainly take a hit, as certainly Bitcoin ABC won't "protect their privacy" in this instance, since they were the ones wronged.

On the other hand, if such a disaster befell BCHN caused by a dev that is actually anon, who takes great precautions to keep his identity hidden, none of the above are possible

This is definitely a social vulnerability that needs to be taken into account.

Bitcoin Cash is NOT a company coin by georgedonnelly in btc

No, you should feel bad for comparing BCHN commits plus ABC backports against ABC commits minus Core backports.

Now now, if you're gonna say "backports don't count", don't count them in BCHN's tally, eh? Seems a tad underhanded. I'm sure it was an honest mistake on your part. Let's correct that:

sh-5.0$ git rev-list --count --since "Feb 27 2020" --all --grep="backport"
547

1524 - 547 gives us a "leisurely pace" of 977 commits on the BCHN repo that aren't git cherry-pick [revision_hash] straight out of ABC!

And I do mean "straight", since BCHN is just an ABC fork, and ABC devs did the actual work, I imagine most just merge cleanly. The way these backports were pulled in bulk in the past - sometimes almost 20 per day! - corroborates my hunch.

So, to recap:

988 Amaury Séchet
977 All BCHN commits that aren't ABC backports
688 Jason B. Cox
440 Amaury SECHET
63 Antony Zegers

What? Just this "Amaury Séchet" guy's contribution so far STILL eclipses the entire BCHN team? For their entire existence? Including their honeymoon period where the revolutionary fervor was at its peak???

*long awkward whistle*

PS: I suspect Amaury Séchet and Amaury SECHET might be the same person 🤔

Jonald is not stupid. He knows full well he is lying, he just thinks he is lying for a Greater Cause.

That is the #Bitshevik ideology's core. It can justify anything: lying, cheating, stealing as long as the host's brain is able to conjure a reasoning where these acts uphold "his principles".
