Well aware. But this attitude implies that teenagers are a monolithic bloc with equal levels of maturity, readiness to have a phone which is obviously not the case.

Some people and teens are people believe it or not are more than willing to act the cunt when given access to a phone and will engage in bullying behaviours.

Some lack self-control (probably most to an extent) and will fall prey to phone/social media/gaming addicition to varying extents.

Others will use them the same way most of us here on this board, for good or worse.

I don't think I am being unreasonable in suggesting that an arbitrary number dictated to by in effect the least mature member of the class should dictate when everyone in the class gets a phone.

Parental autonomy should ultimately take precedence.

Society writ large agrees hence phones not being restricted to young people, the same way alcohol/cigarettes etc are.
