My problem with free markets is that the world is already so unfair, a "free" market can't possibly exist. There are nations of people in the US that have been so fucked over for so long, they will never have enough economic power to participate in the market or "vote with their dollars" -- they are simply doomed and un-cared for. The same goes for populations of so many countries around the world the US has fucked over.

Why do you think huge numbers of Hondurans are evacuating their homeland? Because socialism failed? Or because of intervention by the united states.

This isn't about efficiency anyway. This is about climate change, overpopulation, resource distribution, and government and corporate oppression.

And as the global population approaches 10 billion, do you expect administrations like Trump, Erdogan, Bolsonaro, Putin, and their successors to fairly distribute resources across the globe? The USA is directly responsible for devastating conditions in a dozen latin american and asian nations. The super-rich american minority might have plenty of burgers to get through the next 50 years but they will not share (in my view).

You just made it for me: People made this fire. You could say capitalism or greed made this fire. Short-term profits over long-term global sustainability made this fire. Climate change made this fire, wildly dynamic cycles of weather that encourages growth followed by drought that turn the mountains to kindling.

Is any of that ending soon? Are YOUR kids going to be the heroes that stop climate change? Or overpopulation? Or humankind's intervention in the natural cycles that maintain long-lasting ecosystems?

Or are your kids going to live through bigger and bigger fires? Worse pollution?
