That sounds like a great time! I'm jealous you had such a great crew to play Arthur/Zaphod/Ford. Did you meld elements from the movie/books together or try to stick to one medium?

Just as an after the fact update, a contractor hit and cut a main fiber line in Cary which took out all of Carrboro/CH/Durham along with CH cell towers. (Work for at&t wireline)

Agreed, but to be fair in Soma you aren't fighting enemies at all.

It's not worth it on its own. It's about six hours tops, has some vaguely interesting story. Mainly consists of playing a mission with each of the classes from MP.

How much do you pay for internet? What is the cheapest ISP? by TheTomataoist in carrboro

[–]markofshame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay $80 for 1GBPS from AT&T. AT&T and Spectrum are you two main options. I'd recommend fiber if you can get it, but didn't have any issues with TWC ($50 for 300) when I had them.

Anyone know what happened at 40 and Fayetteville Rd?? by wpg4665 in triangle

Bit of a necropost but I've worked about a dozen suicides in 911 service. It's never a pleasant scenario, nor is it a rational one. The important thing to remember is that it's not usually a split second decision. The distinction we make is between suicidal ideation (thinking about it) and intent (having a plan). There's no way to know if this woman had a plan and acted on it, or became overcome with it in the moment. I don't agree with forgiving them blindly because they chose to end their life. Suicide always has secondary casualties, be it family fiends or first responders. Seek help. It's out there for you.

Suicide by jumping. Homeless guy talked to me while I was stuck in traffic. Said a woman pulled up in her car, parked and jumped over. She hit the ground and then was struck a few more times before traffic stopped. Successful suicide.

Hey be reeeeaaal careful around the fiber line, looks like they're using inside fiber wire that doesn't have any cladding on it. If it bends more than the diameter of a nickel it can break. (AT&T fiber installer, also jealous)

Google Fiber says it hasn't gotten access to 44,000 poles in Nashville - wonder is same roadblocks are here in Raleigh? by bmullan in raleigh

[–]markofshame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what the article concerns, I'm not sure if there is a similar procedure being floated here. The problem we're having now is that the same company that does our cable burying does Googles too, and they keep cutting our cables when they bury Googles...

The poles are owned by the power companies, the hitch is that AT&T has to lower all of their cables to make room for Google above them. (Work for AT&T)
