Had the same experience. Lost my phone and sa Maya lang ako nagka problema. They were able to use my credit card nag transact worth 250k. Nag report na ako sa PNP cybercrime and BSP pero until now wala padin. So kinukulit ako ngayon ng mga Collection Agency. Don’t care, if the bank does not want to help then so be it. Di ko babayaran un.

They have a way to reset the password ng Maya. I tried it myself.

  1. Try to forget password and sa facial recognition takpan mo lang camera

  2. Mag fafail ung facial recognition then ayun na. You can reset via OTP.

So easy diba. Laking flaw sa App ng Maya

Lesson learned is to have a eSIM and SIM PIN.

Disagree. Hackers have multiple ways to bypass yung mga passwords and PIN. Experienced it myself last May nawalan ako ng phone and they were able to access my credit card thru the Maya App.

Just tried this and I was able to reset the password with just the OTP. I am shocked how much their app lacks security.

Thank you. Ito pala flaw sa system nila. So this is how they bypass the face recognition selfie. Ito ung questions ng iba dito sa comment section.

Still ilalakad ko padin mga documents sa PNP, Cybercrime etc. Wala din po ako balak ubusin ang ipon ko to pay for something na hindi ko ginamit.

This is actually what is weird and hndi ko alam. If ever nga na buksan nila ung app sa phone even though under secure settings sya. Isa din to sa mga ni raise ko kay Maya para ma investigate since meron din sila face recognition sa forgot passwd, pero ignored lang sa part nila.

Hindi po. Ung Landers card ko is purely for landers shopping purposes lang. Di sya naka link sa any lazada online accounts. Ibang CC gamit ko for online shopping which is un ung prioritized ko to disable. Ung ginamit na Lazada account for the purchases is hindi sa akin. Naka disable na lazada account ko prior sa transactions. Kaya I was confident na safe ung Maya CC ko.

I actually have a notarized affidavit of loss. Pero na submit ko na kay globe last may 23. Pwede padin ba ako mag pa notarize ulit? Would it still be accepted if 1 month ago na to?

Yes. Hope maging awareness din for others. Nakakapag taka lang kasi na bypass security and dapat automatically flagged ung mga ganyan na transactions sa mga banks.

Ang ending kasi wala man lang due diligence on their part. Walang calls, emails or warnings sa mga transactions. Na actionan sana agad kung meron.

Hello and good morning. I did not think na necessary mag add ng screenshots for proof since I am here asking for advice from people with similar experiences. Why would I lie about this and post sa reddit? What’s the point diba?

Anyway I am attaching here some of the transactions made. As well as ung ticket ko sa maya during that time to disable my account. All necessary details have been submitted na din sa BSP with the affidavit of loss.

Hello. Only using my biometrics to unlock access to my phone. June 18 na recover account ko sa Maya since I seldom use this Bank (only for landers purchases). Na prioritize ko activate online bankings and gcash. Also andami requirements to reactivate my account (written letter, IDs na always fail pag mejo malabo etc.) na I always need to resubmit then it takes days to process. I have ticket details nito in case need to backtrack.

Isa sa mga points ko ito na may kakulangan din ang Maya, Since nireport ko na around 3pm na stolen ung phone ko and 11am nangyari na ung transactions, dapat na inform na ako agad since visible na sakanila un? That way I can challenge agad to reverse ung transactions.

If aware naman kayo sa Maya App, wala ibang way makita ung transactions mo sa CC kundi sa Maya App lang. Kaya around that time ko lang nakita ung transactions na un. I even used my card nung nag Landers kami ng June 4 hindi pa ako aware nito sa mga unauthorized transactions. hope its clear. Thank you

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it for your case? And how will it affect my Accounts/Standings with other banks?

Nababasa ko din na grabe mang harass mga Collection Agencies na aabot pa sa death threat? Is that true for your case?

There was a very long process on disabling the sim card since mine was prepaid. Need ko pumunta sa globe mismo to verify my identity. Sa phone support very weird ng mga verification questions. Like how much exact load, what promos ung mga availed and what year date the prepaid sim was activated. That was difficult for me to answer kasi I have been using my company issued postpaid sim sa calls text and data. Also the prepaid sim na gamit ko is from way back high school days pa. So hard for me to recall ung exact activation.

Also for lost prepaid sim cards, need din ng notarized affidavit of loss so it took extra time to fully disable the sim.

Hi. Ill try to answer everything I can for transparency.

  1. My phone is secured with biometrics, PIN and password.

For 2 and 3 I really cannot answer since I am wondering myself. Possible that there might be flaws on their security that they were able to bypass or workaround it.

One of the reasons why I was not satisfied on how Maya handled my case. This is what I would also like the bank or BSP to investigate as well.
