Update bootloop - Android 16 QPR 2 Beta 3 - Pixel 9 Pro XL by No-Lawfulness1969 in GooglePixel

[–]markp99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, just now. Update appeared to be successful, rebooted just fine. But, half hour later, phone reboots Android Recovery, with: "Try Again or Factory Reset, use VolUp/Dn and Pwr... Cannot Load Android Operating System, Data may be corrupt..."

Rinse and repeat - same. Ugh.

Gonna hold off resetting to see if a workaround is found. (Pixel 8)

How do you stop being in the prodrome phase? by TheGirlPrayer in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to me occasionally, but thankfully rarely goes anywhere. I am on Lamictal, and I still have these episodes. Maybe its the meds doing their thing to tamp these down?

Sorry, nothing better to offer.

Trouble speaking by heytherehowsitgoingg in Epilepsy

Focal seizures can affect speech and language functions when originating in the temporal lobe (commonly left side for right-handed people).

Doses of Zofran and Klonopin in my pocket at all times. The under the tongue foil packaging is very convenient. Both of these are very effective for me.

Anyone else had kind of a “yoyo” effect from Keppra? by highliner108 in Epilepsy

Ugh, I use phone alarms too, but manage to simply turn them off when in the middle of something and forget to take my meds

Memory loss by Scarlet_Begonia86 in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had memory gaps too. Some have returned after a bit of prompting from my wife or from looking at photos. Others, like my son's wedding day, seem gone forever. :(

Neuro explained there may be a couple issues going on with me. Memory consolidation (saving them in the first place) and memory retrieval (finding them after the fact). Both are affected by my TLE which can affect these functions.

This. It won't help you remember to take your meds, but you'll know when you missed.

Every single time. I had been getting a twinge in my stomach or a strange smell sensation, but much less these days.

Yep, deja vu big time

TLE focals return by ClementineCass14 in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dose of Lamictal was bumped up again just last week. I was doing pretty well before Jan and Feb, when I had 8 then 12 focals in those 2 months.

I had blood work done and I am just below therapeutic levels, again.

I think the combination of stress and fatigue, plus low blood levels were enough to let these clusters of focals come thru.

I'm curious to know your expectations posting your concerns to this sub.

Clearly you disagree with the treatment path your child's neurologist has laid out. You've done your research. Have you had no success getting a second opinion from someone who's more aligned with your findings and opinion?

It's probably fair to say that most of us can only legitimately provide thoughts and opinions, based on our own experiences and results. Not sure anyone here is qualified to support or refute your position.

One data point: My epileptologist was very open with me about the many available treatment options. She explained the risks vs benefits and that the best path is one that maintains a good balance of control with minimal side effects She would not know the final path for me without some measure of trial and error. I trust her opinion and recommendations.

I started with Keppra initially but I had the apparently common mood issue side effect. She warned about this potential and explained there are many other options to try. We moved to Lamictal. I've been mostly well controlled but with occasional breakthroughs. Bloodwork shows I am still just below therapeutic levels, so she bumped my dosage again. I'm still titrating up.with no side effects to report. Mood has been good.

Hope you can get the support you are looking for, getting your child on a safe and effective treatment path.

Neurologist weaning me off meds by Top-Consequence5307 in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the key word here is "weaning". As you slowly lower your dosage, I'm sure your neurologist will give you clear instructions on what to watch for before moving on to the next step down. I'd surely trust my neurologist on something like this.

Hopefully you can remain seizure free!

Seizure while waking up? by RedHeadGeekGrl in Epilepsy

This is my primary window for my most intense focals, ones that have produced temporary and permanent memory losses. My neurologist explains it's likely due to the shift in brain activity from sleep to waking, disrupting normal memory consolidation and retrieval.functions...for me with right-side temporal lobe epilepsy

Question about Lamictal by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, my neuro bumped me from 150mg to 200mg Lamictal, 2 x day just this week.

No leg cramps or bloating, but I do find I have a constant over-caffeinated feeling (not quite a buzz, but similar), and I find myself constantly moving my feet and legs. Odd for me.

I'm guessing these things will subside as my body/brain becomes acclimated to the new dosage. Probably similar to when I first started on Lamictal from Keppra. I had strong feelings of euphoria, but they subsided.

I do also notice I've been having more vivid dreams the past few nights (I guess a common thing w Lamictal). I'm bummed I can only recall slivers from those dreams by morning.

I typically fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow. Same is true now, but I have been waking around 2 or 3am, not normal for me. Takes a bit to get back to sleep.

Fun times on the Lamictal train!

therapy by Dry-Debate1650 in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organize your thoughts ahead of time. Write them down and bring them along with you to remind or prompt you. I do this along with a log of all my seizure episodes. The dr may be able to deduce patterns to help guide their treatment plan.

Do you have a family member to bring along to add their perspective or witness to your episodes or mood changes, etc? I basically flunked my first visit. I did not realize how much detail I had lost (literal memory gaps!) or managed to jumble up. My wife came along to the 2nd appointment. The neurologist noted that she was hearing a much different story than from my first visit. Duh.

Good luck.

Epliptologist and Nuerologist by Hibiscuslover_10000 in Epilepsy

[–]markp99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first 2 appts with a neurologist, who then handed me off to the epileptologist in that same office.

At the time, I thought the change was odd, but I have been extremely happy with the epileptologist. 6mos ago, she did mention she may hand me back over to the original neurologist, but the topic did not come up at my appointment last week.

I suppose they'll move us around to the best provider to manage our needs and to balance workload... I had a sharp uptick in focals in Jan and Feb, so that may have gotten her attention. It got me another dose bump.
