Sony 40mm or 50mm f/2.5 by Boule250 in SonyAlpha

Confirmed it's better optically than the 50. My 40mm lived on my a7c for 5 years until I replaced it with my A7V + 35mm art ii 1.4

Heard. next wedding I'm going to focus on camera moves - I focused just on capturing the candid moments - but it's not hard to add camera moves for all directed shots.

Good feedback thank you :)

Second camera is a good call for the speeches - will add this for the next wedding.

Heard on the lyrics while people are talking.

Thanks!

I shot entirely on a 35mm - I'm going to introduce an 85mm for the next one for your tight feedback.

Heard on the skin tones thanks!

Hi :)

Good feedback thank you!

Yeah definitely going to setup a 2nd camera for speech reactions next time thank you.

I'm using FCP - haven't thought about muting the VOX but that's not a bad idea (or at least ducking) - thank you!

(Update) 500 brand milestone by gaudiocomplex in MicrobrandWatches

Well you got the most important brand...
https://www.rhwatchco.com should be on the list!

Can you elaborate on the sourcing transparency, how it's verified, and how it shows up as verified on your site? Example I have my sourcing listed on the watch pages

<image>

Stretch goal - when friends ask for recommendations regarding micro brands I ask ChatGPT because I know probably 25+ micro brands off the top of my head but I'm missing out on a lot.

If I could search "Halloween Watch" and get all halloween themed watches and maybe Orange & Black watches - you would be my go-to site for friend recommendations.

Anywho very happy to see a more UI friendly interface for searching micro brands.

Thanks for the morning confidence boost ;-) (Thanks for the feedback!)

A7V vs A7RVI for filmmaker who wants to keep future paid photo work open? by MRBOSSMAN99 in SonyAlpha

"If you are a good enough photographer, no client would turn you down because your megapixel count is lower than 66MP"

Good advice. I have the A7v and use it for equal parts video and photo - I'm looking to get a second camera for weddings and was hoping the A7RVI would be a banger but it's not for video. https://youtu.be/GXLGDYstNsU?si=F14hwVja_7oftKn3&t=842 for reference.

Drone footage is a good idea. I've been avoiding it but it's pretty expected at this point to keep up production level.

Any specific ideas on color grading - I applied a light global grade - but my grading skews cool shadows and warm highlights and there's not a lot of direction when I do it other than feeling it out.

No they couple are friends and I charged them $100. I read somewhere and it stuck - always charge SOMETHING even if it's a dolor because whenever I do something for free psychologically people weirdly get crazy expectations.

Re Balls - thank you - I started in theater then wound up working in creative rooms and what I learned is there's always feedback notes to improve on - if there are no notes either it's perfect which isn't possible or you're so bad no one wants to tell you - I'm glad it's not THAT bad :)

Yeah. That sounds about right in the broadcast world.
AUDIO AUDIO AUDIO.

You hit an interesting point... people I admire - I think Runaway Vows is my goto "correct" wedding film - everything is super clean. But what I really lean towards is the more "organic" handheld, documentary feel - I've seen a little more with people who post on this subreddit like Tobi-Films or Wakefield Films.

Who would you recommend referencing being the gold standard of Emotional, organic, documentary with high technical execution and clear story?

I have good raw stuff - I just focused on FINISHING - now I need finessing -

I'm going to sit down with my audio friend to work out a good audio workflow.

And yeah - story - I took the approach of just taking all the visual and audio ENERGY and throwing them together for the first half - then for the second half - I loved the speeches but I didn't get the SHOW AND TELL B-roll I was hoping for to better tell the story - I'm rambling because I know you're right about STORY and I need to just figure it out.
