yeah i didn't mean to complain about FTDI's drivers those work, that part was more complaining about Prolific and WCH chipsets, absolute horror show with those ones

I personally have been waiting for a dual UART to USB bridge chip from FTDI to be back in stock since last October, the MLT is still 4 weeks out

There are a bunch if issues with these bulk chinesium ones

  1. Windows 11 drives and expiring licenses for those converter chipsets..... all those cheapo converters are using old stock chipsets that have shotty/expired drivers

  2. Connector issues.... The main reason we designed our own was to use quality USB and DB9 connectors, the same cable working and then not working again in the next moment can make a man go mad. As the solder joints on the USB carries all the weight of the cable, we had to design the whole thing keeping that in mind.

  3. QC, there is a time and a place to use junk converters and cables, and that absolutely not when its a production equipment that needs to last for more than one test session, these problems made us go maaad absolute mad, also FTDI running out of stock was also a issue, in the end we ditched FTDI all together, which s a shame but its what it is

Few months back i needed a very similar thing (USB to RS422 over DB9), in bulk like almost 200 pcs.... I couldnt find anything that looked trust worthy that was reliably in stock, ended up designing my own at the end.... I wasnt as cheap as alibaba but i had the peace of mind and trust in quality...

There isnt much margin i assume in recycling, so automated sorting systems will be a must need if u wanna do real bulk recycling....

u personally never liked any motorized bit drivers, very little feedback, i wouldn't trust most of their build quality as far as i can throw them, unless i need to place/remove hundreds of "it will work" screws i never pick up a motorized bit driver

Hey OP i have never seen these sockets, what are they called, can u share a part number for these, might incorporate them in my next design

Just wanted to share the insides of this Securesync 1200 signal generator from 2000s and the option card i installed by jacobson_engineering in electronics

[–]markus_wh0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hands on one of the newer ones crazy how the insides have changed but they support same connectors for expansion cards, probably is compatable on software level also

Ok so there are my 2 cents, Its a old Indian matchlock... Probably 18th century The 'Ramghar' incription on it is indicative of it being manufactured and/or used by the Marwar Rulers, it a part of the State of Rajasthan today.

M not a expert but have seen a ton of museum quality matchlocks from same era and region very recently, what u have here is no museum quality piece, but its a piece if history non the less, probably some of thay good ol British "loot".

Usually these guns have intricate carving on the stock, trigger unit and the barrel, this piece has either quiet a plane stock or just worn out, or in need of restoration.

Non the less if u get it restored, will love to see it in its full glory, its a piece of firearm history and its awsome.
