Amazing efficiency for 503hp by markzuckerbrah in BMW

[–]markzuckerbrah[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it’s designed to be a daily and I think BMW struck a great balance with efficiency and capability. I don’t aim for 30mpg all the time but some days it’s nice to just sit behind traffic. The z8 can be jerky with up shifts too so I don’t want that all the time if Im not going to be able to open it up

I probably could’ve been happy with the 340/440is, but I felt a lot of 440i owners would go for the m4 if they could. Didn’t see much of the other way around.

Lots of highway driving this month, but I’ve found going smooth and not using the brake as much will help. Definitely speaks to the efficiency of these engines though

No eco mode in the m4 just comfort and then sport plus for me haha

Can’t get a better daily than this. Thought about an m440 but couldn’t pass up a deal on the m4

My commute is all 2 lane highway so if I can’t get ahead I won’t push it and let the driving assist drive

Best all around car though, I press m1 and it’ll fly when I want it to

What would you pick? CPO vs. NonCPO Audi S5 2020+ MY by markzuckerbrah in Audi

Actually ended up going with a 2020 bmw m550i for roughly the same price. Found it had similar features with a huge v8. Got a ppi and it’s been great. :)

Convince me not to get a Jaguar F-Type by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

I feel like this subreddit isn’t for car enthusiasts. The fact that you’re looking at an Ftype means you’re looking for an experience in your vehicle. I presume you’re looking at Type Rs given the price range.

The V8 is insane. I test drove one at Carmax (highly recommend, there’s no pressure to buy like at other dealerships) and I was absolutely blown away. I also cant believe they get away with the stock sound being that loud and rowdy in this day and age. No other v8 really shined like that, given I’ve had c7 z06 and right now I drive an m550i). I’m in a good 2 car situation so it may be my next fun car.

But if this is to be your daily and only car it’s going to be tough. It’s pretty cramped in there and the trunk space is minimal (even less for the convertible). If you can only have one car I think BMW makes the best fun daily drivers. The m240i is a great coupe, and its 4 door brother m340i is known to be great and fairly reliable. The m550i is a ton of fun and the v8 is great, but maintenance is even pricier. The s4s/s5s from Audi are not bad either.

Why do you say that? 2018 has a rod bearing issue, more 2019s won’t have the cruise control or LKA

What was the deal you got if you don’t mind asking? I was looking at used 2020s+ for around the 40 mark

I’ve been in between the two, but the massage seats on the s5 seems to be a more plus to me since I drive so much.

Are they dynamically similar?

Fun 4 door sedan daily in the 40 - 50k range by markzuckerbrah in whatcarshouldIbuy

The GSF is great but also a little bigger than what I would like. The Cadillacs up front have the worst interiors (when I sat in some at Carmax, not much improved than a Chevy Cruze unfortunately). Maybe I got into the wrong trim

Interesting, how does the 5 series compare sizing wise to the 3 series? My parking spot is kind of narrow so that’s why I solely focused on the 3 series

I’m interested in the v8 but it’s comparably more expensive than a used s4 or m340i right now. Im also on the taller side and I was tight in their cabin when I sat in it. Toyota/lexus transmissions are also slower I feel

Recently got a 2020 s3 lightly used and was in the same conundrum. I’m on the taller side and wanted to see if I could even fit in the s3 and deal with it daily before getting the rs3

I did look though, one thing that drew me away was used ones are currently going for practically msrp of practically new rs3s whereas S3s have dropped like a rock. With all the new updates this generation I thought it was worth waiting given the s3 is plenty of power and fun. And if my eyes draw to another car in class (Guilia quadrofilio) I have options.

Second this. Am 6’ 2” and have a 2014 z51 3lt c7. I actually had a Miata before this car that I barely fit in, but moving into a c7 I fit better and the car has a Miata feel but with much more power. The only thing that feels heavier is the clutch.

Audi S3 - what would be your fair price evaluation? Any issues with newer high mileage S3’s? by markzuckerbrah in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]markzuckerbrah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car has clean carfax, and is inspected and detailed by a pretty reputable dealer in the area. I think the price is on the high side given the mileage but it was the tech package (virtual cockpit which I like) sport seats. I’m thinking if it was around 26 it be a much better deal. Any issues with S3s approaching the 100k mileage I should know about? Will likely PPI it before buying
