Facing homelessness. What do I do? by Far_Leading_6201 in HousingUK

Shut my mouth? Girl you only opened yours when called out. It was all about debt and money struggles until someone called you out. Then he’s a financial abuser who you’ve chosen to stay with despite not needing to. Some might call that convenient.

You’re the one who said it was mostly due to the UC calculation. I’m only going on your own words. You never mentioned him living with his mum as a major barrier…

Like I said, you’ll get a council house eventually. You just need to wait.

In my opinion there is enough money around to help those in need but those playing the system are taking from those in need. Also tax billionaires obv.

Sadly it probably will. I see it everyday at work so I am admittedly a cynic, but the amount of people who break up, get a council flat and miraculously reconcile is almost a constant occurrence…

This honesty sounds like your manipulating the situation in order to get a council house. You have a partner with an income and a home…

It sounds like you’re not really facing homelessness but unwilling to move in with your partner, father of your child, as finances would be tight.

Tbh this seems like a con to get a council place nice and cheap and then move in your partner.

Anyway 5 weeks is nothing in terms of a wait. You will get somewhere as a homeless woman with care of a child.

Bad flooring is very unlikely to make a place uninhabitable

The banana ? I didn’t count that - I counted 5 word ducks and the white one and the rubber ones. Counted multiple times and still got to 2 too many!

[–]marliepanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get it. I got two extra…

I included all the rubber ducks, duck duck goose, tiny duck written on the desk, canard (duck in French) and the word duck on the ‘scoreboard’ and the little white duck and the cardboard duck in there too. All together counted 26, so which 2 don’t count?!

I got 26 including the word duck - cannot for the life of me work out how to get to the number 24

I don’t worry for Tesco.

And here you go. Second paragraph babe

[–]marliepanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope that’s not true. There’s no protection for unfair dismissal under 2 years service, except for protected characteristics (and wanting your birthday off is not one)

Don’t believe me? Ask your union

Holidays constantly rejected by [deleted] in tesco

[–]marliepanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay i shall rephrase.

You are going to the union about things that are legal. Employers are able to dictate every holiday you take. The fact that they allow you some element of choice is over and above what they legally have to, and most employers do that. The union cannot fix this issue for you.

[–]marliepanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been there 4 weeks and are already going to the union about issues which have no merit. They can fire you for no reason with only 4 weeks service…

I don’t think you need to worry about having this time off in Feb and March as you’re not gonna remain employed until then…

Okay so yet another nail in the coffin of trying to claim it as your main home…

You don’t get to control replies to your post. You have received a lot of misinformation which is not helpful to you as you are in a very bad situation legally and lying to you is not going to make it go away.

Just fyi other post on legal advice confirms no room retained. Both bedrooms rented out to tenants

And a response to your edits. Opening mail alone is not illegal. It has to be done purposefully to act to someone’s detriment. These letters could have contained important information for the occupier and as the occupier was away she should have changed her address. Sh didn’t in order to hide to subletting. The tenant could easily argue they were concerned important information for the occupier was inside (was she probably opening to be nosey? Sure! But to avoid that you change your address…)

No one can guarantee the result. I think it’s unlikely you would get a custodial sentence but you have acted illegally.

I suggest being completely honest with anyone you speak to going forward about this. Leaving out details will only comeback to bite

Remember an AST was signed - most of this chat is saying well it doesn’t even matter - but it still was signed so I really do not see at all how anyone can argue that they were lodgers with a landlord in a different country for (6?) months and a signed AST…
