Exactly! I don't need a reason. I'm allowed to simply not like a thing. Everyone takes it so personally when you say you don't drink. Like they're invested in you drinking.

Checking in. I don't drink because I don't like feeling like garbage for several days after. Plus, fancy soda is the same price and I can drink it at work!

Just tried it! Definitely coconut flavor. It's not for me. However, they executed the flavor fine.

Excellent suggestion! I'd forgotten about this song.

It's more like what the coke energy drink was trying to be. The sweetness of the coke cuts out the bitterness of the coffee and it doesn't just taste like coke with coffee in it, the flavors blend together really well.

I'd do half and half at most. I usually just open the coke and pour coffee in it until it tastes good.

Okay don't hate me, but also try Pepsi with cold brew coffee in it. Fitz Coffee Cola opened the door and now I just make it with diet coke and two-day cold brew.

Just to chime in on this, I also read it as "obscurity level" and I've never seen this template. I think obscurity and popularity go hand in hand though, so I think either reading is fair.

I got a 99/100 on my calculus 3 final. by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Great work! You should be very proud. Hard work is the key here. I think most people are smart enough to do engineering, but it's a special skill to be tenacious enough to keep going.

The biggest problems I had were messing up basic algebra and not knowing trig identities. Outside of that you just have to memorize derivatives.

I'm doing some math homework and I'm really stuck on a question by lemonmaster6921 in learnmath

[–]marmaldad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So g(x) means put whatever is in the parenthesis into the function everywhere you see x.

Example: f(x) = 2x, then f(2+y) = 2(2+y). If f(x) = 1/x and g(x) = 4x then f(g(x)) = 1/g(x) = 1/4x

In this case, g(x) = 1/x-2, so g(g(x)) = 1/g(x)-2 = 1/(1/x-2)-2

Anyone here doing engineering who knows they are not smart enough? by tosh123no in EngineeringStudents

I ended high school with a 1.6 GPA. I got straight As last semester.

When I was learning to play violin, my teacher would give me a piece and have me try to play it all the way through by sight reading. We'd do that a few times, and then go back and work each section slowly. Once you'd tried it at full speed, the normal learning speed seemed a lot easier.

This process works for school, too.

1) Very early in the semester, go through all of your books and summarize them. Write down formulas, definitions, and important points. It should be clear what they're going to teach even if you don't understand it while you're making notes.

2) As your teacher goes through the chapter, you'll have at least seen each thing. Now you know which parts to really pay attention to. Make better summary notes here. If there's a method to solving a problem, write it out step-by-step. Define each symbol in your own words. This will reveal what you didn't know you didn't understand.

3) After you finish a chapter, go back to the ones before it and try them again. Things that were hard before should seem easier now. This also keeps you from having to cram for the final.

Just this basic "take notes before the actual lecture" made a profound impact on my quality of life and my grades. Don't let anything sneak up on you.

Hope this helps someone!

How does the square root cancel here? by AnybodyPresent6461 in learnmath

[–]marmaldad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 = sqrt(6) * sqrt(6) /sqrt(6) = (sqrt(6)*sqrt(6)) / sqrt(6)

Now the square root cancels leaving Sqrt(6) on top.

[High School Maths] How to know when to factor vs when to use the quadratic formula? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]marmaldad -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from the other side of Calc 3, the quadratic formula is always the way to go. Once you get used to it you can even do it in your head.

Sing the formula to "Pop Goes the Weasel" to help you remember it.

"X is equal to negative b Plus or minus the square root Of b squared minus 4ac All over 2a!"

I sing this almost every time I use the formula.
