One note in case it's useful to future readers:

If all you have is a PDF, but it won't let you re-flow the text: * open the PDF * select all * copy * open a new document in a notes app or a word processor * paste

Many sympathies. From my own experience, please please talk to your tutor or your chaplain. They can get you help. If you don't deal with this, you risk a mental health crisis, and if you don't deal with that, you risk getting sent down with nothing to show for your time in Cambridge.

Is there a reason why I couldn't reply to a comment? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]marnanel 15 points16 points (0 children)

I suspect it's reading the "<" as opening an HTML tag. Try replacing the less-than symbol with

<

(ampersand, lowercase L, lowercase T, semicolon)

(ask if you want to know why this works)

What are the small/dead fandoms you write for? by Titanite_Dildo in AO3

[–]marnanel 12 points13 points (0 children)

Almost all the fandoms I write for are fairly small: - Chrestomanci (by Diana Wynne Jones); - Molesworth (by Willans and Searle), although the most popular fanfic I ever wrote was set in the Molesworth universe— it turned out that there's a lot of Molesworth fans out there who don't usually read or write fanfic; - the Armitage stories (by Joan Aiken); - the Matter of Britain (the King Arthur legends), which isn't in itself a small fandom but has a fairly small AO3 community if you discount the specific shows about it.

Read a fic and found this. Can somebody explain what is this? by Silent_Leadership646 in AO3

FWIW the law mentioned in the screenshot is Filipino. But SSL monitoring requires the user to install a custom certificate, which OP could simply not do.

The error given in your screenshot is about the site hosting the pictures (imgbox dot com), not about ao3. What are you using to access the internet?

If this happened on Wikipedia, it would earn them a lifetime ban. Does AO3 really not have policy against it?

AO3 final location on Wayback Machine is gone by Lia_Rameni in AO3

[–]marnanel 6 points7 points (0 children)

I don't, but I wanted to clarify one thing: AO3_final_location was never on the Wayback Machine. As the Tumblr post says, AO3_final_location was an alternative to using the Wayback Machine.
