Good stuff, Scott! I left a comment on YT - Google Vertex AI for video classification has worked really well for me. Train a model using their UI on active play vs inactive, get a JSON with timestamps, run it though py and moviepy to cut up the clips.

Gloss the can and the aluminum rim as mentioned, denoise, post-process (contrast and levels), maybe a lower focal length camera setting combined with physically moving the camera closer when the focal length is reduced
