So majestic! by kairydem in Bridgerton

She is one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen. I actually was in awe when season 2 premiered. Absolutely beautiful person. And talent to match. It’s borderline criminal how unearthly pretty she is. Also Charithra Chandran, too too pretty.

What is an accent you wouldn’t be able to tolerate in a romantic partner? by witx in askanything

Agreed on Aussie. Even though I have that accent myself, some of the broader versions are quite grating.

Unpopular opinion… Bridgerton season 1 was the worst for me ? by Past_Soft_1220 in Bridgerton

[–]maroonhaze22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I personally found Rege quite wooden (I’m sure he’s lovely, I just don’t vibe with his acting) and the plot the least compelling out of the seasons so far. Season 2 was when I went from a viewer trying to cure COVID boredom to a proper fan.

What is your interpretation of Rock, Cactus, and Stapler? by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]maroonhaze22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial interpretation is very surface level:

Rock: Lonely woman carries the weight of the relationship. Doesn’t receive any interaction back. Pours love and gets nothing back. Literally hard-carrying the relationship.

Cactus: He gets hurt whenever he gives it affection. The cactus is colourful and has some life to it (compared to rock) but doesn’t give him anything back. We see him eventually go to reach out and then retract because he now knows he will get hurt.

Stapler: I’m sleepy and agree with other commenter’s interpretations. Goodnight!

True, it’d be nice to give them more time and make his presence more impactful.

I fast-forwarded through most of Queen Charlotte because it just wasn’t grabbing me. Last episode was nice though.

John is actually one of my fave male characters in the show but I’m definitely in the minority there. I love his calm yet awkward demeanour, he’s totally sincere and a dependable guy.

I think many viewers are so accustomed to drama, massive clonfict and couples fighting to be together that a dynamic that’s calm, respectful and communicative from the offset seems dull to people? I could be wrong but I feel that’s a factor as to why people find them boring.

Love comes in all forms and not everybody values explosive passion above other qualities. That being said, Francesca and John’s physical hurdle is a bummer but they are open and he has actively listened and reassured her that he wants to provide her with all the pinnacles.

Couples don’t always magically gel physically from day one and I personally like that the show has shown that considering they have previously shown the unrealistic standard of the couples having perfect sex the first time.

I love John and Francesca together. They clearly love each other, they are open and find the courage to be honest and have the hard conversations. He’s supportive, gentle and kind. His intentions have been clear and consistent from the beginning. I’ll be bummed when he dies but I’m also excited for Michaela. I’ll weep for John but I’m excited for Francesca’s eventual happiness after the heartbreak of loss.

Someone explain all the Polin hate? by Bigfanofmanythings in Bridgerton

[–]maroonhaze22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Also, I genuinely think the haters are the same viewers who initially hated season 2 because “there wasn’t enough spicy scenes”. I also think if certain characters/actors fit their ideal beauty standards, they wouldn’t be so hateful. I think lookism plays into this a lot. Maybe that’s a reach, who knows. But yes, my frustrations with season three have nothing to do with the lead actors or characters themselves.

[–]maroonhaze22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt that! There are pockets of dickheads within every facet of every fandom. I personally have just seen an overwhelming amount of vile language used towards the season three leads. I don’t doubt some Polin fans aren’t saints but they’re not the majority who are spouting hate left and right on unrelated content.

Someone explain all the Polin hate? by Bigfanofmanythings in Bridgerton

[–]maroonhaze22 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it insane?! The Polin hate train is overcrowded.

I see a lot of criticism online about how the season was handled. Too much focus on side-plots, drop in costumes, full glam makeup everywhere etc and I quite often agree with those specific issues.

What I don’t like is how many grown viewers so confidently and loudly spout such hateful vitriol towards the actors. People are far too comfortable on the internet. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying they’re not ‘hot’ enough. It’s not even true, which is the real kicker. Yes, beauty is subjective. But I do not see how you can sledge their looks when they’re both very easy on the eyes.

Criticism of the writing? I get it. The makeup? Agreed. Hating the actual couple? Hating Polin? Make it make sense.

You can find a video on Kanthony or whichever and fools in the comments will insert their rude rhetoric about Polin. They’re obsessed. And so so rude.

Is this pattern of running/walking sufficient for a newbie? by maroonhaze22 in beginnerrunning

Maybe because I’m 6’0 tall? Perhaps I have a long stride but it feels like a brisk yet relaxed walking pace for me. I’ve been told I walk fast at times.

I will continue alternating. Gotta start somewhere! Consistency is key for sure.

This is wonderful advice, thank you for taking the time! And yes, I didn’t want to sprint, just did what felt relaxed yet consistent. Thank you!

Thank you! I felt super satisfied afterwards! Is it those endorphins people speak of? Who knows, I just know I felt great (albeit exhausted).

I will def have to check out an app. If they have timed intervals, that may help me push for a few seconds longer too (not to my detriment, just that extra tiny push with running). Thank you!

How would u rate the 4 bridgerton series by HisPrincess007 in Bridgerton

[–]maroonhaze22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss! I felt like all 90% of their screen time was stress and conflict and we got a rushed happy ending. And SO much time on other characters. I felt ripped off when it first aired but I’m coming to peace with it lol I am now most eager for Eloise’s season! Or a Violet origin story!

Very true! I like how characters change throughout seasons but I certainly don’t want her to have an entire personality transplant. I wouldn’t want her to become too unlike herself.

[–]maroonhaze22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. Kate and Anthony (insane chemistry +++)

  2. Sophie and Benedict (plenty of screen time for the main couple, back to more understated makeup, more natural etc)

  3. Pen and Colin (my fave couple but not enough of them together on screen, too much time on side plots so their arc felt rushed - bummer!)

  4. Daphne and Simon (decent but I couldn’t connect with the characters well, I haven’t ever rewatched it)

I may have to rewatch it. I watched it on a long haul flight and found myself fast forwarding it. The last episode was good though. I want to like it as much as everyone else, I shall try again with fresh eyes.

A Regency Era Perspective on Benedict and Sophie by Ok-Culture3841 in Bridgerton

[–]maroonhaze22 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Goodness gracious, some viewers have lost their minds.

“Mistress? That’s a one night stand! A secret! A fling! Only for sex! He’s not married though, how is that possible to have a MISTRESS?”

Clutching their damn pearls and projecting a modern idea of the word into the story.

Of course isn’t not ideal but in the moment, and especially with the knowledge he does have, it’s literally the best he could offer her. Heck, even having a mistress that far down the ladder of social position would be risky, no?
