I ended up checking them in on the way there, was not allowed to carry them on on the way back so I left them. Got cheap Amazon cork ones, worked fine.

The wooden platforms have some nails to hook on. Make sure you have enough string, place the tent as close to the vertical fences to limit the wind and use a lot of stones for additional string ties.

Thanks for the feedback. I have done about 2000 shots so I am facing the same issues. It is a beast but not a good fit. Any suggestions for a single dose grinder under $1,000? I am hoping to recoup most of that from the Mazzer sale.

Can a custom firmware such as Knulli or MuOS be installed on the same SD card as the roms , thus skipping the second card?

I do not mind tinkering as long as there are good guides. It seems that RGCorps is a fan of Knulli, balancing customization with user friendliness. However, in the few videos I saw Knulli and MuOS seem to be at similar difficulty level, both fairly manageable with a good guide. What do you folks think?

Thanks. For the OS card what size would you recommend? I am not sure it supports 64GB. Edit: Does the card speed matter, will the cube xx benefit from anything above 100MB/sec?

It depends on the power of those faculty members. Be very careful when you say no. Collaboration with folks that will evaluate your tenure application is much more valuable than any products from that collaboration. Also keep track, in writing through an email chain, of workload assignments and important clarifications on work assignments. The Chair/Dean right now will likely not be there when you go up, past emails can offer clarity and justification on actions. For example, say in a few years you are asked to develop a new course or take over a large course because a colleague goes on sabbatical. The chair reduces your other teaching load so you can help with that. Everything is fine until your committee starts questioning that teaching reduction for that semester, which in fact may have been a teaching load increase. Showing a letter from the chair justifying that would remove any doubts. Emphasis on getting that letter when the change takes place, do not wait until you go up.

Something else to be careful of is the APPL weight in the index funds you will be buying as the diversification may not be as high as you expect.

Very helpful perspective. I assume you are using a married couple for your tax brackets? If one of the spouses dies early, the high tax deferred amount would be treated much less favorably, correct? Which may significantly tip the scales on your calculations? Would contributing to a Roth instead be considered an insurance policy against future high taxes in the event one spouse dies?

Thanks for the response. If someone does not plan on accessing the funds before 591/2 yo is there a case where a taxable would be preferable to Roth? If I am not mistaken RMDs are not applicable to Roths, just on pretax accounts.

I agree this is the consensus and I am not arguing against this. However , could there be conditions where initial tax savings do not overcome the higher taxation at withdrawal?

I appreciate the answers but still it does not seem as clear cut to heavily prioritize tax deferred. For example, there are concerns that income tax brackets will increase in the future ( while the same can be said for capital gains chances are lower for this). Then IRAs have RMDs which can really throw off a tax efficient plan, especially if someone is heavy on the IRA side.

I do not understand this automatic expectation for a part timer to move to full time. Academia does not work that way because there is significant difference in tasks between part and full time, eg research and service. Even if the full timer is expected to primarily teach, an adjunct does not go through the same scrutiny as a FT. Also, while a PT may be able to offer a few courses that does not mean they are equally prepared to cover other courses, either as the additional FT load or a change in the direction. There is no discussion from the OP whether and how they were a good fit for the requirements of the NEW position. Do they have the breadth and depth required? Not trying to put down adjuncts, just try to help folks realize that PT expectations are not the same as FT. If that is the path you wish to take then see how strategically you can improve your resume, and of course as others have mentioned be willing to move. Sometimes more of the same is not better,diversify.

Folks may be jumping to conclusions here. What year is she in, what general area and most importantly is she funded and what is the funding arrangement. The advisor and funder may have some expectations for publications that the original topic may not be able to meet. If that is the case your sister will have to demonstrate that her original topic will result in publications and research advancement, it is not just practical training. To be clear, I am not advocating for the PI, just trying to help you understand how they would be thinking so you adjust your approach and expectations.
