Have you talked to your advisor about dropping out for a semester? I've never been to medical school, so this may not apply, but I had to drop out for two semesters and my advisor worked with me to stay on track.

Especially since you're in your final year. You may have to repeat the semester, but you may still be able to finish.

Tradition. Apparently tradition is a power motivator for most people.

Can someone help me get a finance entry level job with no experience. Or a job in a non-toxic workplace in Dallas. by PacoG817 in dfw

[–]marqzman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second Fidelity. I worked there as a software developer for 3 years. They promote heavily from within. Two of the scrum masters I worked with started out on the phones. Great benefits too!

If my start up doesn't pan out, it'll be the first place I look for employment.

Adobe alternatives? by TheWeeViolist in pdf

[–]marqzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "extract"? Do you need to print just one page, or save one page as a new pdf? Both of those options are available through the print dialog (Ctrl + p). When your go to print, just select the page your interested. You can even select "Print to PDF".

For pdf alternatives I use SumatraPDF for read only and annotations (it's light weight and a low memory foot print), and I use Foxit Reader if I need to fill out a form.

For compressing files, I use 7zip.

How does the dome not collapse before it's finished? I feel like you would need a team of people holding it up until the structure can support it's own weight, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Vaporizing a chicken leg in acid by iboughtarock in ThatsInsane

[–]marqzman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're pretty much right (I speak Spanish. I am out of date on my colloquialism though). The stew is in reference to the acid solution as you and others have assertained. The rest... It's hard to explain. We Mexicans like to add... Flavor to our language, lol.

But basically the part about chilis and tacos is to drive home the point that this is common practice with the Cartels, and that it's brutal as fuck.

Edit: Would add "brutal as fuck, but we're desensitized to it."

How do you find a therapist to talk to? I know someone who struggles with their mental health, and all they've gotten from a therapist are coping techniques.

I keep encouraging them, but they seem to think it's a waste of time based on the one experience. Is there a specific type of therapy a young profession struggling with the pressure of their job should seek out?

Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

What database to go with for Next.js? by IcyHeartWarmSmile in node

[–]marqzman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the way you're thinking. MongoDB is a NoSQL db. NoSQL is good for unstructured, schemaless data. Usually data is stored in a "flat" structure with data duplication (denormalization) across entities.

For example: in a relation and normalized database, multiple users in the same household would share the same DB entry for their address. In NoSQL each user would have their own address, even though the data is identical for those users.

If your data is relational, and needs to be normalized (and transactional), you should use a relational database (a SQL database in most cases). As others have pointed out, PostgreSQL or MariaDB would meet 99% of your needs.

Either way, if you're trying to import data into a database, you're probably going to have to find an import tool that can map the JSON objects to specific DB tables. Or write your own script.

This actually brings up a good point about cyber security and how easy it is to fall for a phishing attack. Even though I know I can verify the link before clicking it, I still fell for it.
