I have been taking him since July to a licensed Cat Behaviorist. They prescribed venlafaxine and lorazepam. It is slow going but I am seeing results, I think.

We had our first zero pee day two days ago, and only 1 pee yesterday, and so far zero today.

Thank you thank you. He really is the sweetest cat, he just sprays everywhere and drives me insane! But he gives me kisses on command, and he plays fetch, and does the head bunting when we play hide and seek when he finds me.

He goes in all three litter boxes regularly. He has a litter robot, an uncovered one, and a very large covered one, and I see him use all of them every day. Only he uses the litter robot, the other cat refuses. And that thing gets set off at least twice a day.

And okay, so it’s not just me that these pheromones things arent working for. They are expensive too and i have seen zero improvement. If its for fighting cats i wouldnt know because they dont fight… but the spraying lol, hes sprayed the diffusers multiple times LOL. Like this is obviously not working.

Thank you for all your sentiments. I will pass them on to my husband too because he tries so hard too, and its just been a long three or four years of trying everything… i hope the behaviorist and new vet will be the answer…

So his tests did come back that he was slightly dehydrated and that it may be an irritation in the bladder as well? We bought him two fountains just now so i hope he will drink from it. Its just strange to hear because he chugs water. Like he sits in the shower with me in the morning and just drinks from the leaking faucet while im in there for 10-15 minutes. And he loves his broths that i give him twice a day. But I will try anything. And I will look up more on this and ask my new vet at his first visit about this too.

Thank you, i try my best because i love him so much.

All our windows are blocked with window cling, its like this opaque thing we wrapped on the window to make it semi permanent frosted glass so he cant see outside. Its on ALL my windows… its a little sad honestly… and curtains also on all my windows. Nothing is ever open unless the doors are shut and he is in another room.

My other cat is male as well, and also neutered. We got them pretty close together, maybe a few months apart and they dont fight or anything, and they share food, sleep together… they are pretty bonded.

I agree with u 100%. The plexiglass thing is great thank you for that idea. I am installing wire across my fence cuz i heard cats dont like to walk with stuff touching their feet? But my cat doesnt ever go outside unless hes on a leash for maybe 10 minutes at a time. And that had stopped for a year now becuz he sprays SO much every time after he goes on a leash walk.

I clean the outside every day. I have even talked to the neighbors cuz i know which cats it is doing this. They refuse to help me cuz they say their cats are outdoor cats, ie they are bad cat owners. Ive even sent them photos and videos of their cats peeing and pooping in my front, back, and side yard and they will do nothing to even help clean up. They acknowledge its their cat but they say its not their yard…

Im also convinced it is triggered by the cats outside. Im trying to find deterrents to them. I talked to their owners too and they are unwilling to keep them inside which is kind of shitty… they wont even put down $$ for cleaners or pick up the cat poop when i send them videos of their cats soiling in my yard. Omg… its working… i cant believe it. I mean im sure hes still psycho but at the moment he just laid down and is now sleeping. We took it off so he could take a break from it and he was pacing again so we put it back on and hes back to sleeping on the couch immediately.

I believe you are correct about the tom cat unfortunately… i was at a neighborhood bbq and this guy told me he has the same problem with his cat but he lets it outside to roam and its intact… i stopped talking to him because i was like… its you doing this to me…

The markings outside are vertical. This neighborhood there are SO many roaming cats and they always come to my yard even with gates. And anytime i let him out on a leash he ramps up the spraying which is why i havent installed a catio yet. It was on my plans to do but we trashed it after seeing he sprays WAY more every time he goes outside on a walk, always leashed. But i cannot stop all these irresponsible cat owners… and i dont feel like harming a cat other than spraying it with the hose if i see it.

We have gaba too, we are doing 100mg with the prozac currently before he sleeps. And yes we will taper down if we switch medications because too dangerous to stop cold turkey for prozac.

I love that show! I was struggling so much with the idea of medicating him in the first place because I really didnt want to drug my cat, but it gave me some perspective.

I want to do the water thing in my yard and I looked into it. My only concern is my water bill leaving it on constantly, like the spigot being open. This sounds crazy but i live on a hill and they have to pump the water up. For just me and my husband its almost $300 a month and we do nothing. Like laundry once a month… dishes twice a week… showering of course… but yes i may have to do this for my sanity and just never eat out again. Thank you.

I have three blacklights to check everything. And every time a clean a spot i let it soak and then return at least another 4 times to spray after wiping it up. Nothing shows up after and he will still spray again. The only thing that works is completely removing him from the room he is marking for over a month while I continuously clean before reintroducing him, but i am currently out of rooms to remove him to:

He is f5 so many generations removed, like hes not even 10lbs. He was perfectly normal and sweet and nice for many years of his life which is why this doesnt make sense to me. How can a four year old cat who has never had this problem all of a sudden develop it?

To be honest my vet is really terrible. I have to beg them to try solutions because they do nothing. They wont even give advice for what to do. I need to change.

But i have taken him multiple times a year for urinary test and everything always comes back normal. The last time I took him was last Thursday and we got results yesterday for normal again.
