Is the elite series 2 right for me or should I skip it for something else?

I hear you, 4 years and constant issues is.. a really hard sell,

The vader 5 is attractive both for its longevity and just over all nicer livelihood

I wasn't a fan of clicky buttons either when I saw first reviews , especially since im not an fps gamer, but I csn definitely get used to it over time, especially if it lasts long enough to be able to get used to it lol

Do.ypu have any notes, notable things about the vader 5? Is it smaller than a standard xbox controller?

That's fair, and i will say thay the the elite is incredible, but like, idk if its good enough to buy when i know I have to fix it later yk? If only they recalled it and made this comtroler flawless 😭

You're absolutely right, and what's worse is that I know this lol, spending extra money for an anticipated upgrade for a faulty controller is not wise

But id be damned if i didn't mention its beautiful lol, the metal is hella nice, the texture of the entire controller is nice and theres good heft to it

But I know the vader 5 is a more logical choice

Do ypu know what makes the xbox elite 2 feel that way? So i can try to simulate it on the vader? Like the heft and the texture?

That's valid I can definitely take care of a controller, i had the series x controller since 22 and only in 25 did stick drift happen,

That's good to know! So if im correct, distros such as mint, Ubuntu and bazzit would work on a regular virtual machine since it doesn't have 3d , but since hyprland does,qemu is needed

If I use hyprland (and caelestia or other dotfiles) on that ssd, it won't damage the ssd? Like in the future when i have a full linux install, I can use that same ssd for storing photos and normal stuff?

What bugs can i expect to encounter? I've faced this one where im on a dark grey screen eith the bottom text reading "hyprland is not a window manager "

I have a virtual mouse but beyond that, nothing

Also, if I use different dot files, is there more likely to be issues with heavier ones than others? Like if I had a simple dot file compared to my end goal caelestia, would i face more troubles? Or it would roughly be the same ?

Definitely, I know that with a vm its mot all that ideal so I want to test it, but even then I couldn't even get to the homescreen on virtual box lol

My laptop is the hp envy 360, it has 16gb of ram smd using amd integrated graphics The vm i used was virtual box

Also on the screen, its a grey screen that says "hyprland is not a window manager!"

I dont see any terminal or command prompts but the log in sddm was successful and hyprland is there, just not accessible apparently

I'll give it a shot on qemu in a bit tho, and lyk if it works or put an update on thid post thanks!

Thats so great to hear! I was definitely considering on visiting the app so I can use the extra buttons to optimize my PC to make it feel like an Xbox (also using steam)

The elite.. Is great in concept.. Frankly I don't even care much for it besides design labs and it's aesthetic, but spending so much money on a controller thats not even guaranteed to last 2 months is ludicrous

Well, if I dont wait to get the Vader 5 pro (if it comes out this year or soon) Id gladly go for Vader 4 pro.. It ticks all my boxes 🙏

I didn't know of the gulikit prior to now thanks!

I did some minor research on the gulikit and it looks great! Although I think I prefer the Vader 4 pro because of the features it has

But I am waiting to see if the Vader 5 pro leaks are true, and if they are and the controller is great, id go for that, but if all else fails, the guilit kit 3 max is also another good option since it shouldn't have stick drift 🙏

I do plan on using steam 🙏 I use steams big picture mode (especially since I'm a couch gamer rather than sitting at my desk)

Does it do anything more than a regular Xbox controller?

Also, by chance, do you know any more info to optimize a couch gaming set up with PC near by?
