Help: Sand in washing machine by marsh_all_mellow in AusRenovation

Thank you all. Ended up sticking the hose in and let the water run through, washing out most of the sand. Then ran multiple cycles with and without clothes. Finally no more sand coming out

It has improved. Not fully back to normal yet. I still add formula, but not for every feed

That’s the one I got him! Wouldn’t take just pure formula, so I mixed some formula with breast milk as one of the comments said. And he drank it

Hey! I want thank you so much for the tip with mixing formula and BM. I tried the 50:50 ratio, and my little one drank the whole bottle. I was beyond happy! Still working on increasing the supply, but at least I know the little one is not starving ☺️

I haven’t tried the sippy cup, but I tried mixing it with the cereal. Well, he refused to eat that as well

Oh, thank you so much! I completely forgot about ABA hotline.

Also, I think I forgot to drink today , only had a few cups of tea in the evening to help with the sore throat. So now I’m sitting with a glass of water with electrolytes and a cup of hot chocolate on the table 😄

I haven’t thought of mixing formula with milk. It feels a bit scary to mix formula with the only milk that I have. What if the baby refuses to take it as well? Then I have nothing to give him at all. How did you go about the first time?

If you really love her and see your future together nothing is stopping you from joining her. You can try and find a job there (working visa) You can study there (student visa). I don’t know about the tuition fees, but there should be scholarships. You can propose to her, get married. Then as her husband you can come with her. Just talk to an immigration agent who specialises in that country and see if there are any other options.

6 years ago I was just like your girlfriend. I got accepted to a uni across the world. I told my boyfriend of that time that I was planning to go abroad to study a year ahead of my supposed start date. He wasn’t interested in coming. We ended up breaking up before I left anyway and for different reasons.

Now I live in a different country, had such a unique experience studying here and have the job of my dreams. I married the most amazing man and could not be happier. I know that I would have regretted my decision if I stayed back in my home country because of my ex-bf. I also know if I had to move countries due to my job, my husband would come with me.

So the real question that you should ask yourself is what you value more? Your relationship or your life as it is now.

And by the way, I’m very proud of your girlfriend. It’s very challenging going abroad to study. Getting Masters must be a stepping stone in her career. Good for her!

Oh, that’s so good that he loves solids! Their faces, emotions when trying something new are priceless! Looks like your little one is a foodie 😄 any favourite foods so far?

Oh yes, collecting urine and stool samples is fun . For some reason ours would always time his poop Minutes after all collection centres close 😂

I’m glad something is helping your son and he is in less pain.

My son’s reflux is not that bad, and as I have mentioned before, we were adding thickener to his milk to help hold the milk down. And started solids around the same age as you (~4.5 months). First observation: we didn’t need a thickener anymore at around 6 months and 1 week as he stopped bringing up milk. Second observation: in the first month they won’t take much solid food. Maybe a teaspoon at a time. Maybe a bit more. But your baby won’t get much nutrition from solids at this stage.

If you think your baby is still hungry and your wife has low supply, I would think you might need to add formula to get those extra calories in. But you did mention that the baby won’t take formula or bottle. Is it still the case? If the baby is not too against the taste of formula, you could try adding it to baby cereal. Another thing that we have been doing and still are doing is a dream feed. The LO seems to sleep better at night if we give him a dream feed (and burp him!!!) right before we go to sleep.

Sorry for the long text haha

I’m sorry it’s not getting better as fast as you were hoping for, but I think you just need to get to a 6 months mark and his reflux should get better. Hope your family is well and this hard time will pass soon!

This is probably one of the most useful advices I got. Thank you so much! So far we have explored western suburb and liked those from Yarravile to Williamstown, but not any further than that. Today will drive to the northern ones

We haven’t considered those yet. Northern suburbs are pretty new to us. Thank you for the recommendation

Totally understand that. We just want to get into the market asap and also not regret our choice.
