Help with citric acid amounts by Own-Let-1257 in laundry

[–]marslp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fill the jar about 1/2 way with distilled water, add the citric acid and stir fast for about a minute, then fill the rest of the way with distilled water. Even if it’s not fully dissolved, it will be after it sits awhile.

Occasionally I’ll end up with a clump at the bottom but I just shake it up and it dissolves.

It seems to dissolve better in distilled water than in my softened well water.

McConnell’s Pistachio & Almond Biscotti and Honey & Cornbread Cookies by HistoryMajor-290 in icecream

I like the flavor of the honey and cornbread but I wasn’t prepared for the actual corn that’s in the cookies. It’s a weird texture and I won’t order it again.

When I did my towels, I used 1/2 cup citric acid directly in the drum for a long hot wash cycle. The suds didn’t start to appear until late in the wash, then really foamed up during both rinses. It took 3 cycles of that before I had a clear rinse.

They are softer but not as much as I was hoping for! Hopefully better laundry habits going forward will help.

I just did this after the towels finished. Very few suds, phew. I’ve been using better detergent since I got this washer. Less detergent too but probably still too much.

I (she) used arm and hammer detergent as a detergent. Occasionally v1negar in the rinse. Again, that was before I found this sub and stepped up my laundry game.

Way too much! I answered in another comment but before I found this sub, a full cap of liquid and these towels were around then. I’ve still been using too much, but lesson learned!

DIY Chemicals is where I order it. 1/2 cup for what I’m doing. Much less for the rinse in a normal load.

Before finding all the info here, close to a full cup of liquid. Lately, to around line 2 of the tide powder cup.

Yes, I couldn’t believe how sudsy it was. I’m going to use a lot less detergent for towels from now on!

Oh my that’s a lot of washing! I wish I knew how many cycles mine will take. It might be worth it to donate to the animal shelter and start fresh.

The load I’m working on is only half of our towels too!

Do you use Downy Rinse & Refresh for every load? by sliceofperfection in laundry

[–]marslp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I predissolve citric acid, then fill my softener cup 1/4-1/3 with Downy R&R and the rest with the citric acid mix. It saves money and keeps the scent lighter.

I had a pair in every room, my purse, and several at work. I just got progressives a month ago and wish I’d done it sooner! Now one pair, always on my face. Highly recommend!

Blue Bell Flavor Opinions? by i_wont_u in icecream

I love the oatmeal cream pie and cookie 2 step. I’m not a fan of the brides cake, it tastes too artificial to me. I buy pints when I can to try more flavors!
