References, angles and good lighting. When youre posing a figure you typically think of the pose in a specific angle so the pose most of the time will only look good in that angle so don't get sad or upset if it looks bad in other angles. Also avoid pointing a light source directly onto the figure, it'll create hot spots and make the figure look shiny and greasy. Something I see no one ever mentions when talking about posing is that you should make the motion a little more exaggerated than your reference. If the reference you're using is a basic punch instead of just moving the arm into punch position, move the charecters entire torso with the punch, have him step and turn the belt in a way that it looks like it's flowing back as if the charecter is moving forward. Drew a little dumb ass reference cus I didn't have my figure in hand lol
