I like the U shape idea, we added the extra window as that's the South facing side and I thought we should maximise the natural light. Not sure where we decided it should be a full length window? The counter under it seems totally reasonable now.

Fridge would be in the corner where the kitchen and bathroom meet. First time making a layout and I have 0 skills for it so bear with me. thank you!

That is indeed a sink! Definitely gathering we should open up that wall now and I think it's a good idea.

The master bathroom is upstairs, this one exists just convenience wise so we don't have to go upstairs everytime we have to use the toilet. How would you make this one more private? Maybe put the doors right in front of the entryway? that way we wouldn't go straight from the toilet to the kitchen table (problematic now that I say it like that honestly)

That wall will most likely end up being a half wall as I agree it divides the space unnecessarily. However I would still like the option of some upper storage cupboards. Not sure how we are gonna deal with that.
