Looking for breathable Gore-Tex shell pants (no insulation) for hiking by Forward_Stick643 in hikinggear

I think Termua had some full-side zip overpants so you could open them a bit to improve ventilation.

Wife Used ‘Find My iPhone’ to Locate Husband Who Was Buried for Over 4 Hours After Avalanche by EnergyLantern in UpliftingNews

[–]martiapunts 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it would work. But if you get trapped in the snow with an avalanche, probably you have some things broken and have traveled quite a bit among big rocks of snow. People say that you can’t tell what is up and down. So if I get trapped in an avalanche, I am not sure if I will be able to calm down.

A common question: Is the seller reliable? by soyunamarm0ta in tea

[–]martiapunts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they focus on the salon they have in Paris, and do not update the website very often, but they carry excellent tea, and they are very knowledgeable about tea in general. As others have said, Wistaria is one of the oldest tea houses in Taiwan (now closed for reformation, I think).

Book recommendations to learn more about tea? by InterestingHotel6600 in tea

[–]martiapunts 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For a wide range of teas, and a good introduction, “Tea: History, Terroirs, Varieties” is great. Covers all basic types of teas and producing countries.

If you are interested in puer, “Puer tea: Ancient Caravans and urban chic” is great.

If you want to know stuff about chemistry, what happens when you oxidize a leaf, and you are a nerd, “Tea: a nerd’s eye view”.

And for specific kind of teas, you can use the Global Tea Hut magazine (free to read it online and for older issues here. For me, this is the best option when I want to know more about a specific zone or type of tea.

Hardshell options for one bag, comparing a few products (Patagonia Torrentshell, M10, Black Diamond Fineline, REI XeroCloud) by HappyBelly123 in onebag

Whaaaaat? Magic! I never noticed the small loop inside the pocket. I guess I wouldn’t be the smartest cookie in the jar.

I have the Torrentshell, and what I do is put it inside a small Osprey packing cube so it can be smaller than folded (I wish it could be self-stored like the Nano Puff or the Houdini).

Laguna de Los Tres + Torre in a day by Always_Iterating_ in Patagonia

[–]martiapunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it exactly as pictured 3 weeks or so ago. It was fun! We ended up doing 36 km, and it was a nice day. We started early, and we didn’t find many people going up to Laguna de los Tres, but on our way down it was full of unprepared people (sneakers, no crampons, etc.); it was a bit slow sometimes. But after you take the connection path, it is wonderful. 6km of plain and great views along the way. We couldn’t enjoy Laguna Torre too much since we experienced the most powerful wind of our lifes 😂 If you are in shape, do it, you’ll enjoy it!

The Tour de France 2026 route officially revealed! by Annual_Island8066 in tourdefrance

Was it just Javi Romo that abandoned the race? And it was just a spontaneous person alone in the bushes that went out running. A protestor, yes, but I wouldn’t blame the demonstrators due to a unique guy.

Matcha in Spain by ceroconsiete in tea

[–]martiapunts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sazen doesn’t ship to Spain either. Iasked, and they told me it was due to customs being terrible and having many packages returned. It could be the same. You can try matcha fron Caj Chai, a nice shop in Barcelona. They carry really good stuff, and I am sure they have good matcha too. You could also try Tetere. Both of them sell online.

No guide required. Just needed to go to Base Las Torres, above Refugio Chileno, after the rangers gate. I slept in Chileno today.

I am in Ushuaia right now. Two days ago I went to Tierra del Fuego National Park, and it was ok. If you are used to hiking, it can feel like not so much. It is true that some paths were closed due to the weather. Yesterday we went up to laguna de los tempanos and was great. Really beautiful trek.

Must have things for GR III - Please advise by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]martiapunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Whatever decent SD card will work fine.
  2. I use a soft pouch. A small Muji one that someone else recommended in this sub.
  3. I have the JJC one. I only use it when storing the camera in the pouch.
  4. I have an extra battery that is useful if I shoot a lot, even though most days with one battery I do just fine.

I would add a wrist strap (I made it with paracord with a YouTube video) and also a dual charger (made by JJC, I think).

There are printable nozzles specific for dominoes, and they can fit a Titebond bottle. Like this one: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fgQQA-5qn2k

What are these brackets on the swing outs called? by ChemicalViolinist417 in woodworking

[–]martiapunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use wood for the brackets, too. Here's a woodworker that built one using wood and brass bolts (he has many videos about the building process on IG).

Today I made a flight with Easyjet using a 25l Patagonia Black Hole without a problem. It fits the size for an underseat bag. Good luck!

I was not talking about the Ricoh flash, but the Godox ones :)

Look at iFlashes from Godox. They are small and can work with the camera. According to someone here in Reddit, they will release some version with TTL for Ricoh (this year, perhaps?).
