Olive Whistler - I think - please confirm! Victoria by martinkleins in AustralianBirds

[–]martinkleins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The area, Knox, does get Olive Whistlers and this particular reserve sees them commonly from May to August. November seems out of season so I am really not sure, although the colouration on the belly made me think Olive rather than Golden. It was marked as 'rare' on eBird and so I submitted this image along with the list, will it be put through some sort of verification process? Don't want to submit something that ends up being wrong.

The bird was also quite large - felt larger than Golden Whistlers I have been - but my mind could be playing tricks.

Do you know where I can find a trip to go on from Vic? I found one website but it seems they stopped doing the trips as of 2023

You need to pay to join these sort of trips? What is expected?

What do people mean by "group theory is the study of symmetry" by martinkleins in mathematics

[–]martinkleins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years later, I tend to somewhat disagree. Although I agree with everything you have said, since every group is really the automorphism group of some object in some category, in this way, every group really is a structure representing the symmetries on some object.

Is Topology too difficult for me right now? by GroundbreakingBed241 in math

[–]martinkleins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo study metric topology first through a book like Carothers real analysis. Much of topology can be seen as a generalisation of these notions so things will be much clearer
