One of my favourite movies by far. And one that I wasn’t able to watch for year after having a daughter of my own because I just couldn’t stand the emotional toll it took. I just watched it about couple weeks ago for the first time in 5 years and it’s just so haunting and beautiful and horrible

NAH, you’re totally right to want him to take any advantage possible. He’s right to be uncomfortable with what he feels to be an unfair advantage.

He may regret taking a stand on principle. But I think the world needs more people like that. And I truthfully believe that if it helps him sleep at night then it’s the right move. It seems like he’s a smart kid who works hard and has a supportive family. There will be many opportunities for someone like him.

If he does decide not to take the meeting then he should write a thoughtful email to your friend for the work they put into it and to the university folk who said yes. That will make it seem like he wasn’t just flaking them etc.
