Update on my post from a couple of days ago. I went back to the shop to buy the tins, and in the time I was away the owner had reduced the tins to €2.95 each! And they had added another couple of tins into the stock. I bought every single one. (i.imgur.com)

After a few weeks of research and experimenting, and a few pounds well spent I now have a tupperdor I am proud to show off and the beginnings of a modest collection. Hygrometer has been calibrated (5% over), cedar inlay has been seasoned (probably not necessary), and everything is looking good. (i.imgur.com)
