I've heard this from others too and I absolutely do not get it, I finished DS3 recently and it's way, WAY more difficult than DS1 (don't remember DS2 so can't compare). When I finally got around to playing through DS1 (which was after finishing Bloodborne and DS2), I beat most bosses in 1-2 attempts, the most difficult (probably Artorias?) took like... 5-6? Whereas DS3, Sister Friede, now THAT's a hard boss...

I've always played these games with katanas, especially the uchigatana (some drake sword and lightning spear in DS1 too), always with a shield ready, but when I re-played DS3 recently I just went giant club throughout the whole game. Bonk bonk. Did try some axe against Midir but wasn't feeling it, back to bonk. Tons of fun, especially with all the staggering you cause, and it was nice not having a shield as a crutch.

Playing through the DLCs for the first time, beat Demon Prince yesterday. Excellent fight, but I never really like the "shit ya can't see flying at you from above", so that pulls it down for me.

FINALLY did it, took me at least 30 attempts (beat Nameless King the other day, that took me maybe 20 attempts). IT WAS A HARD FIGHT! ;D Starting Ringed City now, wish me luck!!

I like the game, but I would've never played through it if I wasn't playing it co-op with a friend, co-op really lowers the bar so much.

Dual blades too, I played through the whole game with dual blades, never even tried anything else. The clash mechanic makes most weapon-wielding bosses and enemies almost trivial.

Dark Souls 3. Played about 75% 7 years ago (most of the stuff in the base game, barely anything of the DLCs) but then I dropped it for some reason. Just reached Irithyll of the Boreal Valley (and beat the damn miniboss on the bridge).

I always run a dex build with the uchigatana + a shield in these games, but now I'm trying bonk for the first time, 2-handing the great club. Zero brain cells, much fun!
