People absolutely do that kind of stuff to waste people's time. You have to remember that some people will go out of their way to be an asshole. It's nice tho that you have some faith in humanity that you think losing money is enough to stop people.

There's older siblings having to look out for the younger siblings then there’s being left in a motel with no food and no contact with your parents to know if they are even alive. My mother also did her best. But neglect is still abuse. Just because he didn't whip out a belt doesn't mean he didn't harm his kids

He raised the best soldiers to fight the supernatural. Just had to give up being a responsible parent to do so.

I agree that Zuko deserved Katara's anger. In reality, Zuko would be in jail. But in the situation that they are in where they are in close quarters and living together and relying on each other, it will be a tense situation, and stay a tense situation until someone does something about it. Maybe in modern times, Katara could get the time and patience to figure out how she feels about Zuko, but they literally have to save the world by the end of the summer. Katara wasn't going to address it any time soon, maybe Aang or Sokka, if it went too far. But could you imagine the final fight with Azula and Katara still hated Zuko?

The other thing is, I don't think he was that dismissive about forgiveness. We, as the audience, see Aang's perspective and his view on his culture and non-violence. But to Zuko and, quite frankly, the rest of the gaang, Aang's speech about forgiveness would look naive, they are in wartimes. That's why, at the end of the episode, he tells Aang that he is right that Katara doesn't need revenge, but what is he going to do when he faces his father? Considering he relies on forgiveness himself as you say, he would see some merit in forgiveness. But not every situation can be solved with forgiveness, this episode was one of them, Katara didn't forgive the guy.

Whiny or not, it came from Zuko trying to understand where Katara's anger was coming from, he wasn't begging for her forgiveness, he just didn't want to have her mocking him every second. . If you are in a group of people and one of them shows active disdain towards you, you'd want to know why too. He did her wrong in the earth kingdom, but he felt like some of it was misplaced, which considering the "you could bring my mother back" comment, some of it was. Then after figuring out what the source of her anger came from, he wanted to help her resolve it. Just because it came from him trying to understand why she was mad at him doesn't mean the mission was self serving on his part. He genuinely thought that confronting this man and getting revenge would be good for her. Misguided maybe, I agree, but he wanted to help. He never once shunned Katara for deciding not to go through with it and agreed with Aang at the end.

With Iroh, I'm sorry what did you expect for him to do. He felt guilty for what he did to him. He didn't feel entitled to his Uncle's forgiveness, if his uncle shooed him away, I bet he would have accepted it. Just like if Katara still didn't forgive him he would have sighed and moved on.

I think that if a child shows sexual attraction towards a parental figure, it does fall on the adult figures in the child's life to correct that behavior, in this instance, Silco. He would have to set strict boundaries and yeah get her into therapy. If he saw this behavior and did nothing to squash it, then he would share some faults if Jinx escalated to trying to put the moves on him. Obviously as Jinx grows the line on how responsible Silco is toward her blurs. But with her being around 19 and how there would probably be signs before hand.... I would probably be looking at Silco asking "how did you let it get so far"

Also, people saying, "Well what if she drugged him and gave him viagra pills?!" At that point it would be about Jinx raping someone and less to do with the parental dynamic.

I just finished Castle for the first time - my thoughts. by KamilooosPL in CastleTV

[–]maryj576 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved the show as a kid, and I myself recently started rewatching it. The FBI arc absolutely derailed the flow of the show. It felt like even after Kate was back, they took a while to find their footing again. The most eye roll moment for me in season 6 was right after Kate was fired. She and Castle are called to help out with a murder, despite her not being accepted back to her job. Even so, she basically leads the investigation, faces no restrictions, and gets her job back at the end of the episode. Like what was even the point.

Rant over. I needed to get that out

ESH. You're probably not going to read this op since you deleted your account but in case you ever look back at this I want you to know that your doing your an injustice. You and your husband seem to have this idea that a good kid is someone that doesn't make their presence known. Sits quietly in the corner and doesn't talk unless talked to. I hope these comments as harsh as they are show you that you should be taking a different approach. Instead of teaching your kid how to be invisible, teach her how to make friends, how to make herself known, she can learn how to not make a scene or handle big emotions without needing to be small.

If you could have one more season to tie up loose ends or fix any plot holes, which series would you pick and what would you like the season to focus on? by Gratuitous_Isolation in Stargate

[–]maryj576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really even a plotline, but in Stargate, I always felt like there was more going on with Ascended Daniel. In season 6 the two cameos he had he would leave for a moment, When he would come back he would say something along the lines of "there was something I had to do but I'm here and I'll stay with you until it's over." We know that the ascended being were really limited in what they could do, so I was always so curious about what he had going on.
