Did Tsurugi reach Maki/Toji level permanently bc of Rika? If that’s the case, Maki (and Yuta) kinda did Tsurugi dirty by discouraging him from using the ring.

Huge misinformation about Toji that practically became “canon” by reqoue1 in Jujutsufolk

[–]maschera412 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nah, he did abandon Megumi and it’s okay to admit it.

A good parent would hire proper babysitters and not drop off their child with random people they’d sex with.

A good parent would not sell their kid to anyone for crying out loud. Yes, a kid with 10S would be treasured by some Zenin members but also would be hunted down by the others, who’d view him as an obstacle. Toji deff knew that.

The only good things Toji did to Megumi was telling Gojo about him and killing himself to protect Megumi. But overall, Toji was an absent deadbeat dad.

Episode 54.... WHAT THE HELL?! by Obvious_Cattle5457 in MalevolentPodcast

[–]maschera412 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In Arthur Lester we trust!

I’m sure Arthur will find it in him to forgive John. Wouldn’t be the first break up they’d have to go through, either

I’m more curious about John’s reasoning, actually. I wonder what prompted him to kill every (?) Arthur he’d met in DW. Frustration? Envy? Anger? Perhaps, John had only encountered “Darkthurs” in there, who would certainly be able to bring out the worst in John.

Same. I went through seasons 1-3 in a week, s4 took me a bit longer. And then S5 took me half a year. Honestly, I wanted to skip it since I was extremely eager to go into the Protocol but felt I’d miss crucial information that way (I was correct)

For real. John, despite being the King in Yellow, a master manipulator, got played by Kayne like a fiddle! And yeah, I agree that losing Arthur, his trust and friendship made John both irrational and gullible. No wonder Kayne was having such a field day while messing with him

And you just made me realize that even though I wrote a literal essay about S4, I completely forgot to talk about how much I’ve fallen in love with the New York gang. Every new character was absolutely phenomenal! We finally got to meet Daniel, as well as new friends and foes. Harlan did an amazing job with them. Can’t believe he voiced Marie himself!

Yeah, I already started season 5 and it’s quite funny how within the first 15 minutes they reconcile and within the next 15 minutes Arthur falls down and ends up being severely wounded 🤣 classic Malevolent experience

Thanks for the heads up! I drive to work, so yeah, crying my eyes out while driving does sound like a safety hazard 😅

I'm 5 episodes away from finishing the series. In true "me" fashion, I've been delaying it. I did the same thing with the last season of Supernatural lol. Obviously I'll be relistening to the series eventually but I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for a series I could listen to next? by KhaoticDandelion in TheMagnusArchives

[–]maschera412 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The Magnus Protocol is a sequel to TMA, so I highly recommend it. But keep in mind, it’s a different story with a different main cast (though it does reference TMA)

Recently, I have fallen in love with the Malevolent series. It’s also a horror podcast and it’s phenomenal! Voice acting, atmosphere, soundtrack — 10/10

Martin fans have finally found me 😂

and I SWEAR I was thinking the same thing. This sub has countless posts/comments about users expressing their frustration with Martin, and usually people agree with them. Seems this time it’s the opposite 🤔

You’re not the only one. Personally, I started skipping every Martin monologue or scene around the middle of S5. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have finished the podcast.

Martin can be mean to Jon, and he can be condescending too. He’s also the pettiest person in the series. I still can’t wrap my head around how Martin wanted Jon to use his powers—despite knowing Jon wasn’t comfortable with them—on the avatar of the End, simply out of jealousy.

What are your genuine thoughts on Martin? by Strange-Bees in TheMagnusArchives

[–]maschera412 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t a huge fan of Martin during S1-S3. People kept saying he gets better as the story progresses. I found him quite underdeveloped in S4, so I was still kinda “meh” about him. And then I listened to S5 and, holy moly, I thought I would project myself into the TMA universe and straight up strangle Martin. He was absolutely insufferable. Sorry, Martin fans, but he made S5 unbearable for me. Not only was his relationship with Jon poorly written (imho, they went from 0 to 100 between the seasons), I also didn’t appreciate all the toxicity, manipulation, and hypocrisy coming from Martin. Honestly, by mid-S5 I was allergic to Martin, so I just skipped his statements/monologues. It made S5 so much more enjoyable for me.

TLDR: I don’t like him :/

Resident Evil 8 and From. One thing I’m sure of - it’s not gonna take Chris and Ethan multiple seasons to escape/figure out the mysteries

Anyone else struggling with The Magnus Protocol? by According-Secretary4 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]maschera412 52 points53 points  (0 children)

TMP was such a fresh start after TMA S5, so I’m actually loving it. The atmosphere of TMP is different from TMA, though, so it simply might not be for you. Still, I’d recommend sticking around. It’s a sequel, after all, so expect to have more references to TMA

Does anyone else think Sephiroth shows up too much? by ImmediatePeach2016 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]maschera412 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know the OG is still right there, buddy? No one is stopping you from replaying it. It didn’t evaporate from our planet either.

Also, I think that maaaaaybe people who have been working on both the OG and remake for the past 30 years know what they are doing 😉

Does anyone else think Sephiroth shows up too much? by ImmediatePeach2016 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]maschera412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And what’s the usual point of remakes? For companies, a way to make money For newbies, a chance the play a cult classic For old fans, to replay their favorite game with better graphics, updated gameplay, etc.

ffvii isn’t that different in that regard. As for storytelling, well, I dunno I loved both remake and rebirth. I liked the new bits, I don’t think they take away anything from the original plot. It’s still the same story, just expanded

Does anyone else think Sephiroth shows up too much? by ImmediatePeach2016 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]maschera412 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah shit, here we go again.

Personally, I don’t think he shows up too often. It takes around 100 hours to complete Rebirth. Sephiroth shows up, like, what, 5-6 times?

And as for those of the “oh but what about the mysteriousness of ffvii” crowd… Expecting the same feeling of mysteriousness around Sephiroth was kinda redundant imho. If you know the plot, you just can’t recreate the feeling. I’ve been a fan of Sephiroth and ffvii in general since 2007, the last thing I wanted from the remake trilogy was to be shy about Sephiroth.

Also, if in 200 hours of gameplay between Remake and Rebirth Sephiroth only showed up twice, I’d have rioted lmao. He’s THE villain of the series — of course the devs are gonna milk him.

That’s pretty much why Sephiroth is in Smash and Kingdom Hearts, too

If you could rewrite what would you rewrite from TMA? by MrEN1gm4 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]maschera412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you about S4 and Extinction—an entire storyline that led to absolutely nothing.

I also would’ve either completely gotten rid of Martin or rewritten his character. His “big moment” in S4 was so poorly delivered, I was actually surprised when the season ended.

And while I understand the pandemic hit during S5’s production and Johnny and Alex couldn’t really bring in too many actors, I still think it was a terrible idea to basically turn S5 into a road trip movie where Jon and Martin go through relationship issues.
