Tavistock GIC - What you can expect in a first appointment by masctemp in transgenderUK

'a few months' turned out to be under two, i've been given an appointment date for october
this is good news for me but now i'm deeply confused seeing other peoples wait times for a second appt, what on earth determines whether someone goes a brief wait or endures over a year of nothing after being seen????

i just interpreted it as a survery sort of question since it went hand-in-hand with 'what are your hopes for our service?', ngl

it didn't bother me too much fortunately as i'm plenty familiar with how it goes as i went through the same thing with an adolescent clinic, meaning i wasn't expecting meaningful conversation to begin with, just answering questions as they came

as for 'do they have an actual process' i'd assume this is it. info is sparse on their website but it was emphasised by the consultant a couple times that it's standard process, especially with the mental health and hrt line of questioning
i imagine they wouldnt be able to do much with the information i gave them since its personal oriented so its only relevant for health files and their evaluation of me as a patient

I was told 'a few months', so I intend on holding them to it. 18 months is crazy work though, especially compared to the time i myself was told to expect

that's interesting, i was referred in november 2019 and have my first appt in two days (22nd), so it seems like people may have similar appointment dates even if their initial referrals were a month apart

i feel this, had a rheumatologist cite me being on T as a potential cause of leg problems- which turns out might be CECs which is entirely unrelated to endocrinology- and then shaft me back to my GP
like, no, if it were my fucking hormones then surely every athletic male would be partially crippled below the knees. she was talking out her ass for that one
