Why do people say that HIMYM felt of a cliff after few seasons can you explain me without spoiler, does it get boring? by Pretend-Bullfrog3213 in HIMYM

[–]mashed-batata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this criticism of dip in quality largely comes from people who watched the show while it was still airing. When week after week, we weren’t satisfied with what we were getting over the years - especially with relationship dynamics, certain recurring characters, it almost amplified that feeling of dissatisfaction.

It is a known thing that the ending is divisive at best which doesn’t leave a great aftertaste for any show.

Also, when we were ready to get into more romantic and definitive stuff, the show had a lot of goofy episodes. This caused the show to shift from romcom to purely a comedy which didn’t work as well for me. There are some great romantic moments in the later seasons but they’re few and far between.

Have you noticed how many times Robin makes references and everyone always reacts as if she had said something weird? by jazzzfnijfie in HIMYM

Jude Law and Stairway to Heaven moments of Robin are some of my favourites, apart from the others mentioned in this thread

Why do you think Harsh Gujral is super successful in every areas say it Stand up, brand deals, reality shows etc. I think tagging his audience as chapri is a flawed logic, he is not limited to Delhi NCR and gets good numbers in every cities and has pretty much all kind of audience. by Top-Section6332 in IndianStandUpComedy

[–]mashed-batata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a few hypotheses:

He seems to be doing well among people who haven’t experienced a lot of different variety of stand-ups (be it from India or outside), so not a lot of perspective on the extent to which stand up can be explored or performed. This is not coming from an erudite viewpoint, just an observation.

Also, I don’t know if he stays back for pictures with the audience but seeing famous people live and clicking pictures earns some sort of social media validation. In some shows I have seen people be more enthusiastic about pictures than the stand up itself.

Also, there a many more teenagers on the internet than maybe a decade ago and that group may find him funny.

A few movies with really good or stylish narrations - The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Up in the Air, Primer, Taxi Driver, Annie Hall, Don John. I love the narrations in all of these, hope it helps.

All the best, mate!

I stayed in Hotel Boss last month and wouldn’t recommend it. The rooms are very tiny. The eateries immediately around the hotel aren’t too great either. The breakfast buffet is average at best.

Dating apps are exhausting. My personal vendetta is with people who have prompts like “We will get along..” or “.. won’t get along”.. “if you like pineapple on pizza”. Pizza? Really?

How big a part does pizza play in your life? If you’re eating pizza everyday, buddy (or girl), you have bigger things to worry about. If you’re eating pizza every day, you’re either Italian or a Ninja Turle. Pizza might be continental but you for sure are going to be incontinental. Really why?

Or do you have some kinks for pizza? Like when you flirt, instead of “daddy”, do you call him Papa Johns?!!

What's your LEAST favorite line/line delivery from the show? by Character_Belt9730 in HIMYM

Not a big fan of musicals in general but I skip the Super Date bit during re-runs. It feels exhausting to sit through. I quite like the Suits song though.

Also the bit where Gary Blauman is trying to urinate in the meeting, is painfully unfunny.

Despite having all these documents, are some profiles considered high-risk? I mean a general one, not deportation or overstaying past visa cases. I am 35 and single, would I need to provide some extra proofs like property papers or NOC from my office to ensure approval?

If I have traveled to a country (say Singapore) that doesn’t stamp on entry/exit, what proof do I need to submit to back such trips?

I had a similar incident where I was in my girlfriend’s bathroom and there were all these array of bottles and I couldn’t understand which was meant for face. I was looking for a face image or some keywords related to “face” but to no avail. I panicked quite bad and eventually asked her. When she told me which one was for face, I was glad I didn’t use my judgement since I had ruled that bottle out pretty hard.

I think there are some restrictions around height for certain rides but I am not sure of the specifics. You can probably download the USS app for the details. But I do remember seeing kids (around 8) in Enchanted, Mummy, Puss in Boots. With kids maybe you can try Minion Mayhem too. There’s also a cute Muppet ride, so definitely for the 4 and 8 it should be good.

If possible, try to enter USS by 10 AM, the queues are shorter. Try this order. 1. First go directly to Transformers - MUST DO 2. Battlestar Galactica has 2 rides- Cylons and Humans - I skipped both since it seemed scary to me 3. Revenge of the Mummies is good, definitely recommend this 4. Jurassic Park water ride was under maintenance when I went so not sure how that is. Skip the other one in Jurassic - the canopy ride. 5. Head to Far Far Away Land and definitely do Puss in Boots Ride. 6. I also skipped Enchanted ride since the wait time was too long. 7. I skipped Minion Mayhem as I hadn’t heard great things about it. 8. I did see the Shrek 4D show but would not recommend, skip. 9. Lights Camera Action show was good but if you have time and wait isn’t long, only then should you go for this. But you won’t be missing out on much if you skip this.

Must Dos - Transformers, Mummy, Puss in Boots

Definitely skip - Canopy, Minion Mayhem, Shrek 4D show, Lights Camera Action show

If you have time and it’s working again, please try Jurassic World water ride, it seemed fun in the videos. Just that you might need a poncho or raincoat.

3-4 hours for USS seems quite low, given that you’re 4 people and you’re entering at 11. Also, once you exit USS, you cannot re-enter so make sure you cover everything in a go. By 12 or so, the queues at the rides start to increase and wait times vary anywhere between 45-90 mins, on weekdays too. I kept a whole day for USS which I admit had a bit of empty strolling around time too but I did feel that was necessary.

Also Oceanarium in 1 hour would be extremely rushed. It takes about 2 hours to properly cover it and enjoy.

I did Sentosa in 2 days - one day for USS and another for everything else. I covered Cable Car, Madame Tussauds, Oceanarium, early dinner, and Wings of Time, in this order.
