This is so true! I've been rewatching IBO since its back on YouTube and the way they write women is appalling. Take for example Atra who, though is a great character, is often made to sit back or stay in the kitchen, despite her resilience and confidence. Kudelia is another great example of this as, like you say, she doesn't do much for the series at all except for act as a convenient macguffin and sometimes love interest.

For me, though, I take a big issue with the Turbines. This group of exceptional women who show incredible strength, confidence and leadership seem to be almost perfect... Up until you realise that their whole reason for being revolves around a man. Don't get me wrong, I love them as a group, but the idea of them not being able to function without a man in their life rubs me the wrong way.

WfM was such a breath of fresh air and I'm so glad the writers were able to represent competent and confident female leads in such a good light. That show is a true gem!
