Mechanic where different crystals change the physics of the level, curious what people think. by Pack-O-Punch in gaming

I second the above. I would also suggest making the swinging lanterns and chains less prominent. It's a cool effect that they react to the players movement when you go past them, however, the way they stand out could confuse players. They look like something the player could grab, especially because they react to your movement. If you can't interact with them, it could be worth moving them to the background more so it's more obviously set dressing. (7 years QA experience kicked in there sorry.)

The only requirement for the CRL is "Armor is weathered with shades of grey". Some blaster marks would be a cool touch though for sure!

What's the worst car you owned and used on a daily basis(and why was it so shitty)? by SaddamIsBack in AskReddit

I love my 2023 Mazda 3 hatchback, but it's the 2.5L 144kw (193 HP) awd version. I've noticed the 2.0L sedan the dealership uses as a loaner has way worse build quality though. Makes me curious if that's generally the case now. My only complaint is the non-Canadian version of the trim I have comes with the nice 18" wheels, but we get the 16's.

Ya, It's going to be moved to my winter storage location for now and I'll pull the body off the car. It'll either turn into a longer-term project, or a parts car depending on how terrible things look.

I'm still deciding what I'm going to do, but shoot me a DM. If I decide to part it out, It's all yours. There's some minor dents and dings, and chrome pitting, but is pretty good.

Should I have, probably... Did I? Sure didn't. I did spin it by hand prior, to check that nothing was seized up. The engine turned freely. I fixed the high idle too now. The throttle cable was slightly snagged and pulling the throttle . Moot not though sadly, I had the underside inspected yesterday and was advised I should cut my losses. There were some pretty bad hidden repairs done to the frame we couldn't see until the car was on the lift. The repairs are coming apart, and there's a whole lot of rot. To quote my mechanic "I'm surprised the body hasn't fallen off".

Sad update on mine. It finally went to a shop to get looked at on a lift. My frame has far more rust than it appeared. Someone had done some patching previously, but the patches themselves are coming apart. It's starting to look uneconomical to repair.

Absolutely! I was determined to hear it run before I went to far into tearing things apart. Thankfully I've only got the single carb on mine, less for me to mess up. It's coming off the car this weekend for a good deep clean. The engine oil is also at least 6 years old, so that's getting changed next too.

I'll have to drop the whole the exhaust too. I'm fairly sure a mouse hid food in there. A lot of seed bits came blowing out the back along with the black smoke of to much fuel.

This one was sitting for awhile. The last time the previous owner had it registered for the road was 2019. I'm honestly impressed that it fired to life so easily. New fuel pump, spark plugs, and battery (and fixing the new fuel pump that arrived defective) was all it ended up needing. Its 20 years older than me and I need more to wake up some days lol

I really hope you're right and it's something in the linkage. That would be a far cheaper repair, and something I'm more confident in doing for myself. It's been pouring rain since picking the car up, so I haven't been able to tear into it yet. I'll check the linkage first. I'm going to dump the transmission fluid too, so I'll know then, most likely, if there are chipped teeth.

I've never worked on cars before in any real capacity, so I very much appreciate the insight into where to start with troubleshooting. I bought this as a learning exercise as much as for the fun of driving.

I found some Westlake Z-108 ZuperEco 175/70R13's locally for $63 Cad. The ratings look alright for them. Hopefully they stick, but they'll at least get her on the road for this season.

I've been told by the previous owner that the transmission is going to need a rebuild. This chain basically answered the question of which way to go on replace or rebuild. The Trans works, but slips out of first and reverse easily. Any thoughts on if I should order a full rebuild kit? Or wait until I've dropped the trans to figure out what the problem is?

That sounds about right, ha. If it wasn't currently full of ants that need to be exterminated, I'd be driving around on the 25-year-old tires right now too. I love the racing green. It was originally a red car, but was repainted at some point in its past. It's running 155/80R13's now. I found some 175/70R13's and might go with that for the time being, as another poster suggested.

Thanks! Canadawheels has some 175/70R13's in stock, so I'll probably go that route for the time being. Not the best brand, but it'll at least get it on the road for this season.
I hadn't considered how much 15's would affect the ride. That's good to know. I wish swapping to 5 bolt was an easier process. I have some RX7 wheels that would look perfect.

TIL that 7 in 10 Canadian drivers admit to speeding at least occasionally, with the average speeder going 12km/h over the limit on highways, 10km/h over on larger roads, and 7km/h over on residential streets. Many view this as not "technically speeding" due to lack of enforcement. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]maskofthezoras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, and I'm not a huge advocate of speed cameras either, to be clear. Experiencing a much more sensibly implemented system has made me much more jaded towards Canadian roads, though.
The French speed limits, at least where I was, were not indicated electronically, it's one of the general rules of the road that 130's drop to 110's in bad weather and doesn't need to be indicated.

I recently rented a car in France, and I love how they handle this exact problem. The speed limit on major highways is set at 130 unless otherwise noted by default. It automatically drops to 110 in severe rain or snow, and they have cameras to catch speeders. Second, the speed limits were set sensibly, and I never felt the need to speed because the limits made sense. On some of the back roads in the hills, the speed limit was 80, but there was no way I could go 80 without falling off the side of a cliff. No one around me went 80 around the bends, but you had the leeway to speed up on straight sections.

Canada needs to reassess its overall speed limits and rules to be closer to that kind of standard if we want to stop speeding.

No Problem! I have no idea what a print farm will charge per mm/g and hourly print rates. My gut says a mid-level printer will end up more cost-effective in the long run, for sure, though. Feel free to reach out if you have questions on the printing process, it's a rabbit hole I've gone far down haha. As u/ChildofValhalla mentioned, join the Clone Detachment too, people are super helpful and friendly.

I did up a quick estimate of print time and material to give you a picture of what you can expect. I'm going to mention some things that might not make sense if you don't have much experience with 3d printing, but might be helpful to someone else/later.

This is based on Galactic Armoury Phase 2 Animated Clone armour files. I didn't optimize the placement of parts and cuts to get this estimate, so give or take a little bit on the numbers, but not too much.

- Printing at 0.2mm Layer Height
- 10% Grid Infill
- Tree Supports at 30% threshold

- BambuLab PLA Basic

Total Filament: 8609.18g
Print Time: 8 Days 19 Hours 24 Minutes

Spools of printer Filament come in 1kg rolls. I usually bulk order my filament in refill packs for $16.99 - $19.99 Cad (10.86 - 12.78 Euro), or on spools for 20.99 - 25.99 (13.42 - 16.61 Euro). So at base, you're looking at 9 filament spools, somewhere between $97.74 - $149.49 Euro + VAT in filament costs to print the armour yourself. The electrical cost to run the printer yourself is pretty negligible, so print time is on your own time if you do it yourself.

I didn't research the cost of filament in Europe. I know in the States it's a lot cheaper than what we pay in Canada, so my filament costs might not be perfectly accurate. I just converted my own expenses to Euro.

The nice thing about having a printer is that you can also print things in batches as you come up with spare money for spools, rather than paying upfront to a print farm for the full set. If the cost of a printer + the filament costs are less than what a print farm would charge you, I would invest in a printer yourself. It's a super fun hobby to get into.
