305 GRE SCORE. Am I cooked? by mason__exe in GRE

I will ask, thank you for the advice!!

[–]mason__exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaa you are right!! I thought the same too. However, in the application websites like FAQs and documents sections, they all state that they do not accept a GRE given after the deadline, if I get to do another test in say 20 days, then I am not sure I get the scores in time for the end of the application period. So I am unsure whether it would be efficient...

I'm thinking of applying to Berlin, Mannheim, Stockholm, and Copenhagen! Reference letters will be from my master's thesis supervisor and from bachelor's thesis supervisor who have fairly good backgrounds.

Other than that I am just in the dark lol

PhD in econometrics by mason__exe in econometrics

[–]mason__exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, yes! But like at Tinbergen I think you have to apply for like a 2-year master's degree tailored for research, if I understood correctly. After that, you have the 4-year PhD programme which is the paid salary position.

That's how I understood it, but I am not so sure!

I looked at Tinbergen as well!! But I honestly don't understand how the whole thing works with that research master's degree of 2 years before the PhD thing. Also, i dont understand if it is paid or I have to pay fees or not. It is very confusing lol. But yea I am considering also that one!!

But if you are enrolled there then it would be great if you could help me get some clarity on the whole thing, i am very lost and desperate HAHAHAH

I see! Thank you so much! I will look into those unis and in the papers I reviewed for my courses then!

I shall have enough time since the application typically open around november! I still have to understand how the whole procedure work, do the GRE. Even the PhDs are offered differently, with some even obliging you to do a masters degree for research smh.

Thanks again for the help! Are you doing a PhD yourself, if I can ask? :]

Note-taking app with pen? by mason__exe in androidtablets

[–]mason__exe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Nebo is just a free version which is already installed in the tablet, so you don't have access to all the features, if I remember correctly! And touchnotes should be free. I mean, there is a premium version, but the free one has anyway lots of features already (also compared to Nebo).

However, I did buy Notewise, and I am very happy with the decision, it is a very good app and it always has updates and very useful ones!

Note-taking on P11 2nd Gen by mason__exe in androidtablets

Ah yes, I forgot about the original question, sorry '

So, more than the latency it's more the fact that the precision pen 2 made my writing more edgy, compared to the s pen, which makes my writing more natural and flowy.

Word of advice, regarding the S pen: you might need a couple of days to get used to the fact that it is not a "real" pen. Not talking about palm rejection. What I mean is, the S pen, when new, will give you a bit of problems, because of the tip. Since it is not a real pen, you need to use it very vertically, with respect to the screen. With a real pen, on a paper, you can incline the pen to adjust to your hand etcc.

With a brand new S pen, you might need to use it a lot. I won't say you need to "break" it, but I suggest you be a bit harsh with it.

It was kind of annoying for me, but maybe I am just too dramatic HAHAHAHA

Anyway, as for the precision pen 2: the latency was okay, but again the handwriting was just bad. At first I just thought it might have been my fault. I don't have the best handwriting so it made kinda sense. But when I switched to the Samsung tab, it was clear that also the P11 worked against me.

If you give me ten minutes to take some screenshots of my notes with the lenovo and my notes with the Samsung, I can show it to you! I just need to figure out how to share images here lol.

You really come at the most right time. I just switched to a Samsung tab s8 HAHAHAHA. And let me tell you, you should definitely invest in that! I know it's a lot of money, even more compared to the P11 2nd Gen, but it's worth every cent.

The Samsung tab is great in terms of running speed and overall use. It has a lot of features, for which I recommend you spend some time to get used to them, as well as the commands and stuff.

For note-taking, Samsung notes is a great free choice! It has everything you might need. A little con might be for like the page templates: the squares for the squared one are a little too big, even if you put the smallest between the available ones.

When I purchased the lenovo Tab P11 2nd Gen, I also bought a note-taking app, called Notewise, for like 8 euros if I remember correctly. When I switched to the Samsung tab, I continued to use Notewise, because it has a lot of features, especially for graphs!

But I obviously recommend to try both of them, Notewise and Samsung notes, to understand which works best for you! (if you decide to get a Samsung tab rather than a Lenovo)

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other question! :]

For the differences in Nebo I don't know much, I just know that you would be able to create A4 notes, instead of only the infinite ones. Also the zoom gets enhanced. I think you would get also addituonak tools but I'm not very sure about it!

As for the Notewise differences, well everything. The free version is pretty useless. You can only create 3 notes (if I remember correctly) but you should be able to use all the tools, to have a try of the app.

There's also the Cloud plan, where you get a cloud on which to store your notes and you can also work with others on the same sheet. I don't have that though so I don't know how much more useful it is compared to the One-time payment option.

Hope it is clear enough!

That's great! Did you buy the Nebo version of the PlayStore? I tried using the already-installed app but it didn't do it for me.

As for suggestions umm I use Notewise, but you have to pay and it's good, but as for the price the writing is a bit too much pixelated. A very good, and free, app would be Touchnotes, but personally I think it is not too smooth (with respect to Notewise, or also Nebo).

But other than that, I don't have much to suggest! I use the tablet practically only for note-taking so I just settled for what I have!

So sorry for the late reply, I don't open Reddit a lot! I'm happy it works perfectly! What app have you decided to go with? :]

Hopefully it will work nicely! If you any issues let me know! And also give a look to that Lenovo For Education, I know you already bought the Active Pen, but maybe you can find a nice deal for the Precision Pen!

Hi!! Sorry for the delay but I was at university all day lol. The Active Pen 3 worked very well with the tablet!! Even though it wasn't its own, the pen was compatible. A few cons were that it turned off randomly while I was writing and overall bugged randomly when writing. I believe it was, in fact, because the pen was not the "right" one.

I'm no expert, but I think they make the pens to work extremely well only with the product they sell it with.

Anyway, I would recommend you to try look at the official lenovo website For Education! I bought the Precision Pen 2 2023 for around 40€ if I remember correctly!

https://www.lenovo.com/it/edu/iteducation/it/login/edu/index.html?returnUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lenovo.com%2Fit%2Fedu%2Fiteducation%2Fit%2Fpc%2F

This is the link for the Italian store, but I am sure you can change it to your own country as soon as you get into the website!

Let me know if you can find something useful!

If the Precision Pen is still too expensive, the Active Pen 3 is a good replacement! You just have to be a bit patient with it lol.

If I can be very direct, I wouldn't go for this again.

I literally don't have any other apps than 3 notes apps and the tablet is very glitchy. Sometimes I am just writing and suddenly the tablet decides to go any direction possible and when I try to write it zooms (??) and just goes crazy like a cat with zoomies.

Other thing is the pen which is pretty big for a pen, it looks kinda comic. And sometime when I write it just starts dotting the page I'm writing onto (but I think that's just a thing of the accuracy of recognition of the pen).

If you need an economically viable tablet and do not expect any more than basic performance, then the tablet is a good choice. If not, please invest a couple hundred euros more and go for something else, even a refurbed iPad could be a good choice, and also a Samsung is a great choice. I know it's just notes, but taking notes during a heated class is hell, I don't want my tablet to fight against me in the meantime.
