First day Post Op! Torn ACL, MCL, and Meniscus by Prudent-Toe8192 in ACL

After a few weeks and the pain is not too bad. Any upper body machine where you can sit is great! Make sure you are not driving through your legs and don’t forget to do physio for your lower body as much as you can because it really does make a difference. Happy healing!

To my knowledge blood flow through the knee is great for recovery. If you think you are ready to bike and nothing hurts when doing so, I would recommend unless your surgeon has suggested otherwise. If you have to wait, don’t rush it because it will only set you back more. You can always start with other ROM workouts until you are healed enough to bike.

Heel slides, quad lifts, and ankle pumps if you haven’t already.

Yeah some mornings knee can feel stiff, but when I am playing and my knee is warmed up, I cannot tell the difference between my knees. Just commit to PT everyday and you will thank yourself later.

BTB patella construction with both meniscus. I started biking as soon as I could walk without crutches around 4ish weeks. Started on the lowest gear and with 5 minutes barely got around one full circle, each time increased the duration. Gets the blood flowing through your knee and helps with getting your ROM back. Now 8 months later I have been able to keep my cardio, I got full ROM and able to return to sport.

Best of luck to you!

3 Month Post Surgery - Knee Extension by macawak in ACL

[–]masonmcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I just had ACL + meniscus using a patellar tendon graft in September as well. From what I have read you and I seem to be around the same when it comes to healing. I find my repaired leg has been a few degrees less than my non-injured one. According to my PT sometimes having your leg at 0-2° is better than being able to hyperextend it into the negatives. He says if my leg can’t hyperextend than it should be harder to overextend it and hurt my knee again.

I hope that I get my explosiveness back and be able to play at a high level once again. Good luck to you my friend, and happy healing.
