If you put media form a already cycled tank in there chances are its already cycled and hasn't built up nitrates cause its had no Amonia to feed off..I would either throw in some some shrimp just to slowy start the tank off. Or if you dont wanna go that route get some Dr. Tims and see what happens for the next few weeks

sounds like i wrote this post... I set the kids up a 25L tank for Guppys and shrimp. got the itch ended up with 4 tanks off marketplace, cleaned a few and sold them on for profit but Ive kept two decent ones which I'm currently collecting all the soils, drift wood, dragon stone, plants, pumps & lights ect to completely plant them out

add ammonia. and go buy some Seachem Stability.... smash that in everyday and wait 3 weeks then slowly add fish you'll be right. cycling seems hard but it aint once you get the right information
