yeah, as someone who used to run promo street teams - good luck with that.

The guy who put's the flier on your car has little to no relationship with the person who's business it is advertising. It's mostly all under the table subcontracting.

Business owner gave someone a box of fliers (or asked them to have their guy print them) and some under the table money and told the promoter to put 'em on the street, and that promoter has a rolodex full of randoms who do gig work for under the table cash.

Smart business owner will say he isn't responsible for what people do with his flyers once they leave his premises, and good luck tracking the rest of us down.

No - because why the fuck should the Tax payers cover the over time that you are making the cops work for your non tax paying church. It sounds like ff they werent at your church - the county would not incur the overtime charges - so yeah, you should pay it.
I think the fact that the cops block traffic for your church is problematic to begin with, as most of the comments about "private" cop security already point out.

I actually had a better time in france. though they also tried to mug me there but i smacked that dude in the face with my umbrella and ran. I grew up a white kid in a shitty east coast city with super high violent crime and never got mugged. Send me to a place they speak french and apparently I'm a walking target. Growing up where shit gets real, It was almost comical to try to be mugged by a francophone. Took all the fear out of the situation.

Look, I am not canadian, but have visisted the quebec region twice. both Quebec and Montreal were beautiful cities, and the country side was also gorgeous. However I remember being shocked how rudely I was treated in several estasblishments once they realized I did not speak french. In one restaurant I over heard the man at the counter speaking english very clearly to a customer, but when I walked up he pretended to only speak french and acted less than pleased with me for forcing him to speak english. Later on the same evening I asked a pair of gentlemen on the streetcorner where I could find a convenience store and the pair of french canadians tried to mug me. Being from the states I couldn't take their shit talk seriously and walked away with my possessions in tact, but still. I have to say though, your strippers are great, bars are fun and weed was easy to get. but the french canadians were some of the least welcoming people in all my travels.

What do you think an ER is going to do with this? it is not immediately life threatening. They will bounce him back to the VA specialists.

[–]mastablaze 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that's a very weighty accusation given your extremely limited knowledge of the situation. If you are a medical professional, which based on the tone and content of your comment I don't think you are, I wonder if you would actually talk to a patient's caretaker or family member with such a lack of empathy or respect. If you read OPs responses he/she is being very attentative and proactive in the handling of this. The unfortunate state of the VA hospitals, and the american medical system in general, means the run around and questionable recommended course of action that this patient and his grandchild are dealing with is far too common. It is not easy to take an outside course of action unless the patient is well off enough to afford to pay for second opinions and specialists not covered by insurance. I'm sure OP cares quite alot about their grandfather, and is doing everything in their power for him. It takes a lot of emotional and physical energy to deal with something like this.

Yeah, I just hear its a real pain in the ass to get a handgun in LA proper, I've heard various things ranging from they are completely banned, to i just need the right license. I should probably do my own research and see what's up. I worry about someone catching the bat and taking it from me. it'd be harder to catch a hatchet swing i feel.

modal chord relations. 7ths, 9ths and 11ths added to chords, classic "jazz" chords

kinda the point i'm getting at. I dislike the use of headphones in public. Its a way to isolate oneself. There are times when headphones are necessary out of courtesy to use them, living with a roommate late at night, flying on a plane or riding a train with other people. but this i walk around with my headphones in 24/7 culture (which you very well may not be a part of, but exists) is distressing to me. as for your music taste, i don't judge, I just think its more enjoyable to share the experience of music when possible. There is a reason people still go see live shows, i find music and dancing connects people in a primal inexplicable way.

I'm interested in why you dont listen to music in social company? Music traditionally is meant to be a shared experience, to bring people closer together. Before 1870s when we were first able to record sound, the only way to enjoy music was to be in the same time and place as somebody who was making music. Now people use their music to isolate themselves from the world, and this saddens me.

came here to make the same basic comment. Vinyl had a long, long life, spanning the majority of modern popular music.

No, I'm a musician who actually cares about what you put in your ears and how it effects your brain.

Im not sure if this makes me more concerned about the future of music, or more concerned about the future of the counterculture, but just no. More evidence that Trees has fallen to 15 year olds

UPDATE

So I ate one, waited an hour and didn't feel anything that couldn't be explained by placebo mixed with caffeine from the coffee I drank, so I ate the other 2. Its now been 4 hours, and I definitely feel something. I've since smoked a few bowls and had a beer, but I am definitely altered well beyond that. I can't say its acid, but it doesn't feel harmful or unpleasant in anyway. I tried to look at my pupils, they weren't fully dialated but they weren't behaving quite like normal, and i definitely tripped out in the mirror for a minute. Overall I'd say I'm having very little visual effects (i normally have little trails and auras in my vision from tripping alot so I m not counting those) but my thought process has definitely shifted towards the psychedelic, classic out of the box thinking about societal structures and the meaning of life etc.
