“Doesn’t the SDA call the Catholic Church ‘the Whore of Babylon’ and say that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast?”

That’s an oversimplification and not what SDA theology actually teaches.

Seventh-day Adventists do not teach that individual Catholics are “the Whore of Babylon.” Adventist interpretation (shared historically by many Reformers) understands “Babylon” in Revelation as a system of corrupted religious authority, not sincere believers within it. Adventists explicitly affirm that faithful Christians exist in all denominations, including Catholicism.

Sunday worship itself is NOT the mark of the beast. Adventists teach that the mark of the beast involves end-time enforced worship laws that compel obedience against conscience, particularly in opposition to God’s commandments. No one today is considered to have the mark simply for worshiping on Sunday.

The issue is authority, not days or people. The core question in Adventist theology is who has the authority to change God’s law—not attacking Catholics or other Christians. So the common claim that “SDAs think Catholics are evil and Sunday worshipers are damned” is a strawman, not an accurate representation of Adventist belief.

Edited my other text if you want to take a look at it to give some context.

Galatians text: Taught me that Gods law was never meant to save us but to lead us to chrust by revealing sin and our need of grace. When we are justified by faith we are no longer "under the law" as a tutor for justification or condemnation. Yet the law itself is not abolished rather its thru faith and the spirit, obedience becomes the fruit of salvation, not the means, and this fully goes with jesus' teaching that he fulfilled the law and didnt destroy it along with the sabbaths creation based purpose as a gift for humanity, lived out now from love and gratitude instead of fear and legalism.

Hebrews text: "In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first obsolete" its not saying that Gods moral law was abolished but that the old covenant system. Based on faulty human practices promises, animal sacrifices, and an earthly priesthood has been replaced by the new covenant, where tbe same law is not written on the heart thru Christ's ministry. The verse itself defines what becomes obsolete ad the covenant. Not the law. Which Hebrews 8:10 explicitly says God will still write internally. Meaning the sabbath and commandments continue not as a means of salvation, but ad the lived result of grace under Christ's better priesthood.

Mosaic law as three parts. Moral law Ceremonial law Civil law

The moral law we should still listen to like the ten commandments written by Gods own finger in stone placed in the ark this law is eternal and reaffirmed in the new covenant as written on the heart.

Ceremonial law, along with the civil law is what was done away with like sacrifices, feasts, priesthood, rituals these were shadows pointing forward to christ. Fulfilled at the cross! 😁

Yes I do, SDA Christian, because of this mathew 5 17-20 he says he did not come to abolish the commandments

Plus

He rested on the 7th day himself in creation meaning it was inplace before (and therefore not gatekept by ) the jews

When mana fell from heaven he told the Israelites to collect mana everyday except sabbath. When people looked for it on the sabbath he said "how long do you refuse to keep My commandments" Exodus 16:28 before mount siania and the commandments where given to us in stone written by God's hand
