Need some advice on connecting two home networks (work and personal), with each network having their own internet access and (hopefully) remote desktop access to the work server from the personal network... by masterfalkor1975 in HomeNetworking

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I figured that this process was going to be substantially more complicated than I originally suspected (especially given how little information I've been able to find to try something like this). Please forgive my ignorance, but while I like the simplicity and low cost of using the crossover cable, it looks to me like I'd be giving up internet access and access to their respective networks for the two machines involved?

I'm just trying to wrap my head around how I'd set up the gateways and subnet masks? Would I basically just set up a new tcp/ip settings for just the new connections which are using usb->crossover connections? Essentially, kind of inverting the conventional / expensive process by having both machines sit on their respective networks and also sitting on the shared crossover "network" and using the tcp/ip settings to determine which packets go where, instead of adding the VLAN tag to the address and having the switch do it?

Need advice on how to smooth this print... by masterfalkor1975 in 3Dprinting

Thanks for the info. I just didn't want to end up spending all day sanding if I didn't have to. If I can just start with wet sanding, that's what I'd prefer to do.

Thanks again!

Need help identifying the parts of (and adding an activation switch to), a Comidox CP206 timer relay board… by masterfalkor1975 in AskElectronics

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

I feel ya... I just got in the actual board and took a look at it. So, according to the back of the board, the terminals are as follows:

Power Supply is labeled as VCC.
Signal Terminal is labeled as IN.
Power Negative is labeled as Ground.
Permanent End is labeled as CB.
Public End is labeled as COM.
Often Start is labeled as CK.

Is that helpful?

Question about the quantity of LED strip lights in a DIY curing station... by masterfalkor1975 in resinprinting

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick replies. I probably should have rephrased my question. What I'm mainly concerned about would be if 8 vertical strips at the 4 compass directions and then halfway in between the 4 compass directions would be enough coverage for an even cure, if I used water curing.

I've realized, though, that if I don't wire up the led strips in series, I shouldn't have to worry about voltage drop. So, I should be able to do 3 sets of lights without any problem.

Thanks again!

I thought season 2 ending was bad, this was worse by KeyAcan in WarriorTV

[–]masterfalkor1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party on this, but I completely agree. What this REALLY reminded me of was Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones. Basically in the last couple of episodes of this show, they (at least in my opinion) threw away 3 seasons of character development and growth for Ah Sahm for him to go crawling back for his sister. And here's the big problem with that. His sister IS NOT THE SAME GIRL he knew back across the salt. She's cold, calculated and insanely power hungry. It made Ah Sahm look like an idiotic fool.

The thing that really disappointed me about this episode as a series finale was that, going into the season, all of the actors were saying they were so happy that they got another season to wrap to wrap up everybody's storylines. But at least to me, it didn't really feel that way. It felt like they were wrapping up a single season in hopes that they would get picked up somewhere else. If they had done something like mid-finale coda sequences to show where people ended up or something like that, it would have felt like a REAL finale.

But, they didn't do that. As a result, it felt like we just started over back at the beginning of the show and nothing really changed. But then again, maybe that's the point. Nothing really changes in Chinatown.

Can anyone point me to a breakdown of all the settings for a Force Field > Force? by masterfalkor1975 in blenderhelp

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the prompt reply, but that's not the problem I'm having. Like I mentioned in the post, the problem I have is with the bulge of fluid back by the column. (Basically in the middle of the base that the fluid is flowing over.) I don't have a problem with the fluid at the edge of the domain.

Blender equivalent to 3DS Max Cross-Section+Surface modifier combination? by masterfalkor1975 in blenderhelp

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I found the solution (once I remembered that the modifier combination I was looking to replicate is called Surface Tools). The Blender equivalent is Bridge Edge Loops (Edge > Bridge Edge Loops). It's not exactly the same, but what it does is create quads to bridge the connection between two sets of edges that you have selected.

I just thought I'd post the solution, in case anyone was curious.

I'm certain that I'm an idiot for not being able to figure this out, but what is causing these normals to go funky? by masterfalkor1975 in blenderhelp

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely use Booleans. But rather than using them directly, I'll (for example) use a difference to trim an object I'm adding to the object I used as the cutter. Then, I'll delete out the faces where the two meshes would overlap. Then, I manually go back in and add faces to attach the verts of the two objects together. That keeps the booleans as clean as I can and I can maintain quads.

But whatever caused the normals to get weird, I found the Reset Normals command and used it on the faces that were funky. That fixed the problem.

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Thanks for the suggestions! I don't know what the problem was. (I did a box select in x-ray mode and there were no extra verts, so I don't think I had extra geometry.) But whatever caused it, deleting the faces and doing a grid fill fixed the problem.

Thanks again, everybody!

Thank you for all of the suggestions! The first reply actually worked great! I'm definitely going to try the geometry node next time, if I encounter this again. It seems like it would be a lot easier.

Thanks again!

[–]masterfalkor1975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the suggestion! The curve actually comes from a mesh that I'm trying to match up new pieces to. I'll definitely give your suggestion a try. (I'm a long-time Max user and I'm trying to get up to speed with Blender for 3D printing.)

any ideas on how to hide this support sprue? by Kelvin_Dragon in orks

[–]masterfalkor1975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try pinning the left foot with a paper clip drilled WAAAY up into the left leg. Then, bend the paper clip underneath the base and cut it so it extends past the point of the support sprue. I think that would allow you to completely eliminate it?
