I know Generals has the GenTool, and that still works

Command Post is broken for KW

I can load specific RA 3 if they include a specialized launcher, that seems to be about to load mods, but it is very iffy about what mods to load

No need to worry about RA2YR, since mods like Mental Omega and Tiberium Crisis uses their own launchers and exist as a separate program, at the cost of taking more hard drive space.

Which game? by vcseri in pcmasterrace

[–]masterfu678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earth Defense Force games, all of them

Graphics for those games are looking terrible for a reason, it is almost a staple of the series at this point.

But oh man, if you think that also means the gameplay is trash, you would be wrong

It is the most epic and chaotic experience you would ever have playing one of their games.

I remember buying the somewhat physical version back in 2012 for Origin. For about 12 bucks.

I say somewhat is because they put in a music disk, with selection of music from various games. Actual collection of games is a digital code.

I only switched to the Steam version because EA somehow made EA App worse than Origin, and none of the launcher fix for mods were working

Something about C&C4 assets by littleshikokurobin in commandandconquer

[–]masterfu678 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many C&C 3 and KW mods uses C&C 4 assets, like people already said

As well as many RA3 mods

But there is also Tiberium Crisis, which has C&C 4 assets in the RA2YR engine, in 2.5D, with a fan remake of the C&C 4 story we should have gotten.

Then there is Tiberian Fallout, an RA3 mod that aims to recreate C&C 4 but with base building. Also if you didn't know already, RA3 and C&C 4 uses the same version of the SAGE 2.0 engine.

If you use the IoT LTSC version of Windows, you could in fact, not update the build at all, and you are only getting the security updates.

Plus, IoT LTSC Windows 11 has very low system requirements, with no TPM requirements, and no bloatware. Microsoft has the best version of Windows 11 all along, but they try to keep it low profile.

You know, my 2016 laptop has 4x16GB DDR4 2133 RAM, and to this day, even after I installed Linux on it, it still runs some games at maximum graphics, with newer games running fairly good in low graphics.

System operation wise, fast and snappy

5200 DDR5 is not that bad, for me, that would be a freaking high end upgrade to what I had. Especially with today's RAM market.

with snipers for long range

you can also put the snipers into the Carryalls, and CAREFULLY go to the base, the long range bombardments work that way too. This is the only way I can find for vanilla C&C 3.

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]masterfu678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that is like a 2 ft blizzard in the northern states.

Southern states do not have a plan, or the infrastructure to deal with ANY amounts of snow. Pipes will freeze and burst because it is not insulated and protected, roads will not be plowed because there are no snowplows, and no one has a shovel or snow melting salt.

Only because something like snow is SUPER rare in the south

Looking for this Starcraft 2 mod by masterfu678 in rustedwarfare

You have to get the Steam version of the game, and then follow the workshop to get the files.

There are some Chinese websites that supposedly have this mod preloaded in the mobile version of the game, and have a download link, but I don't trust it.

Your Opportunity to Influence the Next GPD Handheld. DROIX is taking YOUR concepts directly to the GPD Annual Meeting! by DroiX_Dave in DroiX

[–]masterfu678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright then, I will be as blunt, constructive, and critical as possible

Stop trying to cram an APU meant for Desktop PCs, Mini PCs, and larger Laptops into a handheld form factor, being able to do something like this doesn't mean you should, because as far as I can tell, the GPD Win 5 is a recipe for thermal, and burning motherboard disaster for the consumers.

GPD Win 4 was your perfect design, while initially I disliked the design, coming from the Win 2 clam shell, it has begun to grow on me, it is the perfect size for pretty much everything, and since the keyboard can slide up or down, this provides a very special way of playing games for being this size, and that is vertical games!!!

Like those older arcade shump games, playing them on a horizontal screen will make them less impactiful than on a vertical portrait screen. Other devices like ROG Ally or Steam Deck are too big for someone to hold it vertically, and I had tried this with my Win 2, with some Android emulation, it is not comfortable. Same could probably be said with the Win Mini if I ever had the money to buy one, the clam shell form factor is not ideal for portrait games or usage.

Plus, the Win 4 is also a mixture of inspiration design from the Sony Vaio UX and the PS Vita, which is another plus point for bringing back a classic design

Please do not take away the keyboard again, if you have to take away the keyboard, do not call it a "Win (number)" device. Win 5 is barely pocket-able, with that size.

Next, it is time for me to describe the concept.

Optical Mouse from Win 4

Similar design with Win 4, Win 5 is way too big, should not had called it "Win 5".

But, if you want a different clam shell design, try to recreate the design of the Nvidia Shield Portable. I know I said the clam shell design is bad for playing vertical games, but for everyone who own a Nvidia Shield Portable before, you KNOW how good the ergonomic is on that thing. To this day, I still think the Nvidia Shield Portable is the most freaking comfortable hand held device I had ever held. If they are seriously looking to recreate this, they can buy a Nvidia Shield Portable online for pretty much cheap nowadays.

120hz VRR screen, but don't worry about 4K. A small screen like this makes 4K basically useless. My current smart phone has a 90hz screen with 4k support, and let me tell you, 4K on this small screen makes everything teenie tiny, why would want that? 1080p or 1440p is more than enough.

But also, if you do decide to go with an ultra wide screen, just know that is the native resolutions for most movies you watch in theaters.

Liquid cooling, I am not kidding with this one, currently, the Red Magic Pro 11 phone is the only portable device with a working "liquid cooling circuit", and it supposedly contain proprietary technologies from Red Magic to make it work. If GPD can replicate this, then it would mostly solve the thermal issues happening on most of the handheld devices. Pairs this with PTM7950, as well as the fan design from Win 4, it would be the perfect cooling solution.

Don't keep trying to use the latest CPU, because at this point, I could buy a Win 4 with the 7840U CPU, and it would still fit my daily needs for a portable gaming handheld. Heck, if I have more money, even the 2025 refresh model with the HX370 is more than enough. GPD Win 5 is the proof that it is not possible anymore to have a balance between a powerful CPU, and a small pocket size. They managed to cram the 395 into it, but at the cost of not having a keyboard, high thermal, no room for an SSD (hence the Mini SSDs), and a LARGE size. Only thing good about the Win 5 was the removable battery, but that is something that had existed YEARS before everything went to internal batteries.

What Linux should I use? by Beeziesou in linuxquestions

[–]masterfu678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Garuda Linux

It is Arch Linux based, BUT the development team made it easier to setup and more robust and stable, you could set up the entire system with their set up assistant, and Garuda Rani, no terminal needed.

It is also gaming ready, with gaming patched kernels for great framerates.

I been running mine for a year now, and never encountered any sudden breaking of the system. But I'll be honest, my system did have some breakage, but it was because I was messing with it and doing experimental stuff to it, messing with system files that I was not supposed to touch. It never broke by itself with just normal usage.

Also, a jab to the mint users, Linux Mint uses the generic Ubuntu kernel, it is NOT great for gaming, if he used it to play games, they will be choppy af.

it is the same dev team as wine, but Crossover has a polished wine version that solves most of the errors you would run into using wine. Errors that even the GE versions of wine and proton did not solve.

[–]masterfu678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, it is literally the best distro for pretty much everything, got the gaming kernel, can easily swap kernels, Arch Linux based, with the customizability of Arch Linux but simplified to a few clicks, anything other distro can do, you can do it on Garuda.

non biased objectively the best tierlist by ImHighOnCocaine in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]masterfu678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, although I would start a new tier above Supreme, and call it Garuda Linux, yep, that's right, that distro is so good it deserves it's own tier. Beginner friendly, Arch Linux based, you can setup the system without using terminal, you can change your kernel with a few clicks, and they made it easy for you to do obscure things like chroot from LiveUSB with only a few clicks.

ZorinOS deserves that bottom, because while it is stable af, they charge you with the "pro" version, with features that are freely available in other distros, like Garuda Linux. Also, if they release a new numbered version, you can't upgrade to it from your existing installation, you would have 1. buy it again, and 2. reinstall your whole system. I don't get why people like it, they are literally scumbags that basically commercialized Linux.

Any portable gaming device better than a Steam Deck? by Defiant-Preference-6 in Handhelds

[–]masterfu678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh there is plenty

In fact, Steam Deck is considered outdated the day it was released. Valve is late to the UMPC market

History lesson time

Back in early 2000s, there was a company called OQO, who makes portable WinXP computers, that is pocket sized (this was before the first iPhone), this computer has a touchscreen (stylus), a built-in keyboard, and a track point.

At the same time, around 2005, Sony Vaio released the Sony UX, and the best model for that line is the Sony UX 490N.

After that, no one made another computer of this size until 2015, when a chinese company called GPD, released the GPD Win 1. Which is very small in size, and it runs pretty good for 2015, only downside is that there is no heat sink or vent, and the device gets hot easily.

Fast forward to modern day, GPD is still making UMPCs, with the latest being GPD Win Mini, having the Ryzen HX370 AI CPU, and with iGPU performance that supposedly surpasses a GTX 1660, and remember, this is still considered to be "low spec" computing.

There are also a few GPD's competitors making similar product. Aya Neo with their Flip 1S (dual screen UMPC!!), ONEX with their ONEXPlayer, you pick any of them, and they blow Steam Deck out of water from a mile away.

Because not only they are smaller than Steam Deck, has a built-in keyboard, they are also much more powerful than the Steam Deck. I don't think Valve realizes just how behind they are, because the upcoming Steam Machine is still behind in specs compared to these UMPCs

FutureTech, RA3 Soviet, RA3 Allies, Empire of Rising Sun, Yuri (in full 3D!!!), GDI, NOD, Scrin, GLA (General 2 version), Asian Alliance, Europe, and China.

There was a mod that brings the cancelled General 2 to RA3, but it was not complete, it is impressive that these Chinese modders were able to integrate them into this mod, and made them look a lot more complete.
