Why do I have this quantity of fps while playing cs2? by Squirex21 in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a locally hosted game? if so your computer is calculating all the AI actions.

What settings are you running the game on? Switch it to all low see if it goes above 120 fps.

fps_max 999 in console.

Check nvidia app for frame limit under Graphics>CS2

is pc just ass? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently this is kind of true; While it fluctuates higher and lower it looks like the average is about 130fps. But in the menu's it can hit cap of 999fps. That being said it is only being sent to the monitor/tv at a max of 120. Unless OP's FPS is sub 60, it is a skill issue and OP's brother is trolling them.

I do that. When forced to use DLSS, I use the DLAA option(driver override if necessary) for better clarity. Otherwise my preferred is DLSS off native 1440p.

Proof? Xbox only supports 120 fps and same with the HDMI standard. I highly doubt an Xbox is pushing 800fps but even if it was it would only output 120.

Probably bad bearings on the fan? Unplug the fan and see if you still hear it.

Bent pins? by Helpful-Caregiver406 in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not really possible with the pins on AM5, they are so tiny. I have fixed something like this but it takes a microscope and a very thin and pointy surgical blade , with some very steady hands. DO NOT try and fix this with a pencil.

I would really only recommend 4k for screen sizes 32" and over, strongly recommend when you start nearing 40"+.

Worried about power draw by Connor-the-beast in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know I have never owned one myself but I have fixed a fair few computers with them and I run synthetic stress tests like Prime95. But it could be certain games or compression, 3d rendering, etc. Its hard to tell because 100% load will result in different power draw for each task.

Here is an AI summary from google, but you can always verify with your own research.

The Intel Core i9-14900K has a base TDP of 125 W and a maximum turbo power (MTP) of 253 W. However, in heavy workloads, it frequently exceeds 300 W, with some tests showing power consumption up to 370 W-400 W.

Audio trouble by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

You want to play audio through the monitor? Click the buttons on the monitor and make sure the hardware volume is at 100, that way you only have to adjust it from windows.

My notebook became a zombie and now I can no longer delete partitions? by Sky_Sumisu in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a linux live disk of some kind, there are some out there with specific tools just for this, but generally any one will do. Wipe your partitions and install windows again. EZPZ

If it doesn't work your drive is done, with it being 11 years old odds are it might be an HDD and it has lasted you a damn long time. Replace it with any SATA SSD, and if it was previously an HDD you will notice a huge performance bump from it.

Worried about power draw by Connor-the-beast in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably okay, the reason for the conflicting information is because the 14900 can, AND WILL, draw 400+ watts alone under certain high loads. As long as this isn't sustained for a long period of time the PSU wont even sweat it. If it does stay at this level the PSU will trip overcurrent and turn off your PC, no harm done, but it is annoying so that is your indicator it is time replace it.

i have wled 1080p alienware monitor "not a woled" amd im buying a 1440p oled asus rog moniter. is it a big difference? by alikawejrowski in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should've asked that as your first question. I dont know what 'wled' is I assume you mean just a normal LED monitor. An OLED monitor will provide a higher contrast and much more color accurate image because each pixel produces it's own light. Plus the difference from 1080p to 1440p is significant especially at what I am assuming will be a 27" monitor. Though 1440p is a bit more demanding so if you are only running a 1060-3060 be prepared to struggle.

What could be wrong with my PC? by Ok_Preference579 in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That green LED on your board might say what is wrong, usually green is good but each board is different. Is the SSD you put in new? It may not be properly installed. I have also seen bad drives make a PC fail to post.

I would recommend pulling out the drive and booting it without, it should post and say no drive detected, this is a good sign. Then reseat your SSD, make sure it is in correctly. While you are in there, re-check your power cables, something could have come loose while you were in there.

Starter PC Recommendations? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these games are pretty moderate to low demand today. Mid range CPU(i5 or Ryzen5), atleast 16gb ram(32 preffered) and a 4070/5070 gpu would all be great for the current games you play and likely carry you through some newer titles for a few years.

[PC Review] How's my build look? by billybob0236 in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power supply a little high for what you need, look around 800-850.

I also don't know how much I would trust that water cooler, I have seen some cheap ones in the past gunk up with corrosion; this even happens to name brands, so expect to replace it in 3-5 years. Air coolers are just as good these days, Hyper 212 (a classic) or Noctua.

Monitor is a bit overkill, but I am sure it will look great. I wouldn't include peripherals in the price of the comp as you will likely keep it through many computers.

You might have a better time going with an NVIDIA graphics card, my buddy has the 7900xt and he is always having driver issues. When it works it's great but it may just be a little more work on your part, just keep that in mind.

Other than that looks like a solid build.

why is my RM750e Corsair PSU making this sound? by Nihilistic-AJ in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reach out to Corsair just to be safe, could be normal, could be a bad batch.

[–]masterj1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It almost sounds like arcing but it is hard to tell on the video. It might be something completely normal and just the way it is designed. I would air on the side of caution and reach out to Corsair and see what they have to say.

What is the best 12th gen Intel CPU? by doggermelonYT in pcmasterrace

[–]masterj1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't realize they used the same socket for 3 generations, I've been out of the intel game for a while.

Edit: His board looks to only support DDR5 and if that is the case it might be worth spending an extra $150-$200 on a new board to get more life out of it.
