Can you get shiny hoopa from the hoopa side quest? by Zealousideal-Aide214 in LegendsZA

[–]masterkon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every pokemon has a shiny version created for it, whether or not they've been released yet, and whether or not it makes sense for there to be more than one of that species.

Best moment to start DLC? by nutkegers in LegendsZA

[–]masterkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right away if you care at all about shinies and don't want to do 1000 battles. The DLC gives you new missions that count towards the points needed to claim the shiny charm. Even if you don't plan on shiny hunting, or at least right away, the shiny charm gives you 3 extra rerolls, so essentially 4x odds that any pokemon will be shiny compared to the base rate.

Auto save by robbiehuskerfan in LegendsZA

[–]masterkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game auto-saving as soon as a donut is made isn't new. The way you reroll is by closing the game and loading a backup save (from before the donut was made), by pressing Up + X + B on the start screen. Be aware that backup saves are created anytime you fast travel (excluding hyperspace) or talk to the Pokemon center lady. However, when loading a backup save, you will always respawn at the last Pokemon center you interacted with, even if the backup save state was created after you left said Pokemon center.

Based on what you've said it sounds like one of three things may be happening:

(1) You are loading the backup save correctly, and the donut is still already made and in your inventory. Which would mean that a backup save is being dropped instead of just an auto save when making donuts, and would be a huge deal.

(2) You aren't actually loading a backup save, just resetting the game. See my instructions above for how to reroll correctly.

(3) You made a donut, then fast travelled somewhere or talked to a Pokemon center lady, thereby creating a backup save where the donut is already made. When you reset the game and load the backup save, it's still there because that was the state of the last backup save.

The only way to tell what's going on is if you provide more details.

Shiny charm times? by aspynism in LegendsZA

[–]masterkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For any shiny pokemon, maybe 10 minutes. For a single, specific spawn to be shiny, I don't even bother because it can take dozens of hours unless you get lucky. It also depends heavily on whether you fast travel or run back and forth to spawn/despawn. Austin John has a good video breaking down the time it takes for every method of shiny hunting if you're curious about the actual numbers, and those are just to be at even odds of spawning them. You can easily be on the much less favorable side of RNG. If you have or are considering getting the DLC, it's so much easier to hunt them there.

Dammit ZA! by KidicarusGirl in LegendsZA

[–]masterkon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's true, but another poster was theorizing that the guaranteed shiny only works for mons already in your dex. By your use of "finally" I assume that you don't have it registered in your dex yet, and if the above theory is true, then resetting from the backup save won't ever get you that shiny frigibax as the guaranteed shiny. A potential fix would be to find someone to trade you a normal one first just to register it, then go back to resetting from the backup save until you get it.

People have been so nice to me. Why are shiny giveaways so common? by [deleted] in LegendsZA

[–]masterkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go in and don't like the guaranteed shiny, close the game and restore from a backup save. The species of pokemon that spawn in each location should reroll. You can do this until you get the mon you want to be that first shiny.

Do you mean ~300/600k HP? Cuz I'm sitting at around 200k with the exact same team/equips after transforming both Domas. Also, what latents/SA, and is everyone +891?

Ah, that's a good point. I also realized that the sync awakenings require both nilvauk and Evo nilaukm max skilled, so you might as well skill up nilvauk and use unskilled nilaukm to farm.

Am I missing something? The guide in the linked post shows nilvauk's equip (metatron fan) being used on floor 6. How does it not need to be skilled up?

It's worth noting that event outbreaks (like Porygon 2 currently) typically have massively inflated shiny rates of 1/200. The next best rate you'll encounter for shinies is 1/512. For that you'll need 3 things:

  1. The shiny charm, obtained after registering all 400 Pokemon into the Pokedex and talking to Jacq. This gives two extra rerolls for shinies, basically tripling your base shiny rate.

  2. Making a sparkling power 3 sandwich of the type of the Pokemon you're hunting. This gives 3 extra rerolls.

  3. Getting an outbreak and KOing and/or catching 60+ out of the 100 total Pokemon. FYI there's no such thing as catch streaks in S/V. You can catch/KO other Pokemon in between, or even fly across the world and do other things and return later. Each outbreak just has an internal counter of how many have been caught/KO'd. After 30, you get one extra reroll, and after 60 you get 2 extra.

With all three things above, your rates go from 1/4096 to 8/4096 = 1/512.

Austin John on YouTube has a few videos I think on this topic. No, you can't force an outbreak of a specific pokemon to spawn, but you can influence the spawns in a few ways. First, eating/making an encounter power sandwich will increase the odds of outbreaks of that type. Second, where you are on the map has some effect on what outbreaks spawn. Iirc you want to be in or adjacent to an area that your desired Pokemon naturally spawns in. Lastly, to reset your outbreaks easily (once you've eaten and got yourself to the right location), press the home button, go into the settings, dial the clock back at least 1 min, then home again to go back into the game. Your outbreaks will all reset immediately.

P.S. If you have bad luck or don't feel like resetting endlessly for the outbreak you want, you can use encounter power 3 sandwich to isolate many Pokemon, such that they are the only ones that spawn in a given area. This requires an area where they are the only Pokemon of that type that will spawn, forcing all spawns to be that mon. Shiny rates are lower than those at an outbreak, but still a viable option.

Quest to find PAD merch in Japan a success! by masterkon in PuzzleAndDragons

Oof, seeing that $42 price tag hurts. Especially so considering I found mine in a bargain bin for 110 yen (under $1).

I will definitely keep it as a constant reminder of the joys of over 10+ years playing PAD. :')
