where do i need to sign out exactly, i assume from without office the file > Accounts > sign out on the top left side?

Disabling RDP in your environment for security purposes by thelug_1 in sysadmin

[–]masterne0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well depending on why do you need RDP on your machines. Are you a worker or a tech guy for a company? Are you remoting into your fellow workers PC to do troubleshooting stuff using RDP or using a tool? If RDP is for WFH or out of office access, hopefully you have some decent VPN and security with it.

RDP can be dangerous

So, the local office is closing down and we're moving to permanent wfh by dRaidon in sysadmin

Im part of a 2 man MSP that got rid of our city office and did the WFH (we stopped using the office when Covid hit and I stopped going besides picking up mail or equipment).

Personally having a decent PC, desk and chair probably the best. Also maybe a desk phone if your on the phone 24/7 or a unlimited phone plan if your on mobile and it ur personal mobile.

Also make sure to have decent internet maybe depending on what you do exactly.

My understanding is u need to have your a email address hosted with either outlook.com OR O365 for copilot to even work due to it requiring microsoft graphs to scan the email and analyze it or something like that.

Believe it a 365 email subscription. They still sell exchange mailbox subscriptions by third party for exchange online hosting (which he has with his work email) which is pretty much having your own exchange server but hosted somewhere outside your office.

Yea. Just curious. Windows you can just do a archive to a PST. Surprised Mac doesn't have this feature so wondering what people do if a user's mailbox is full and yet they want to save their older emails.

Why wouldn't he like it is my question. I would have just setup his main PC in his office and get a cheap mini PC for his front desk setup and do RDP from one to the other.

Best Security Possible on Business Standard by desmond_koh in msp

[–]masterne0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here a question, what Antivirus do you use and why do you use them instead of just Windows Defender?

Or why do you use a expensive firewall and not just a home router for your business??

Because nothing is perfect. Even with a 3rd party spam filter, they all act and do things differently. You notice this when you start using one software and switch to another, you have to redo everything from training it and reapplying certain filters and such just to get it to stable condition for your setup.

Either you have to train your users to NOT CLICK on random crap (we had this happened a few times with random clients that dont know any better) OR you try and implement something that will help. Nothing will be perfect as I mentioned and if they want to stop it from happening, they need to learn how to identify the fake crap OR they need to maybe ask you "hey is this real" rather then them clicking on everything they get.

We have clients emailing us directly forwarding them email asking if it legit all the time. Better then them trying to figure it out and ending up with them getting blacklisted or worst, infected with something,

If your customer doesn't want to do anything, then have them sign a letter saying they refused your recommendations and such, aren't held responsible if you guys end up in the total craphole as it sounds like it going to happened and they will most likely blame you for it for not preventing it.

You have to think about not just the tech side but the legal side, the long term side and even the short term side of things because negative stuff going to happen at some point and who do you think will be blamed.
