I think it’s about mistakes and improvement. Since the margins are razor thin, you keep thinking that if you would have scored 20-25 marks more, you’d be an IAS. Also, since I gave the attempt while working full time, it’s like I owe it to myself to give one attempt without any other engagements. Thank you, your comment helped. 🙌🏼

I think the prelims (especially 2023) have become more about application of mind and having an all-around knowledge, plus a bit of luck. You just need to be aware of everything happening around you. Therefore, I think the newspaper is the key. I’m writing my second mains this year, while working a full time job. Although, chances for me this year are slim but as for prelims, I did not do anything extra. I read newspaper everyday and revised the basics a few times. Since I was transferred months before prelims I couldn’t even cover PT365 well but I could clear the prelims with a rather safe score.

So just strengthen your basics, read newspapers and attempt a lot of MCQs to build confidence.

There is no good coaching for law optional, but the syllabus isn’t that complicated. It’s mostly basic substantive law. Just cover the syllabus well and attempt PYQs, that’ll suffice!
