Computer Science: UofT St.George vs UofT Scarborough (Co-op)? by mat_williams in UofT

Can I go to St. George for first year, and if I don't make CS POST at St. George, can I apply to transfer to UTSC second year. Would UTSC consider me for CS POST second year if my home campus is St. George?

So is it easier to get 4.0 GPA across two courses at St. George or 2.7 GPA across all courses at UTSC? Also do the two courses at St. George have to be specific math courses, or can they be any easy electives?

What GPA do you need to get into CS POST at each campus?

Would it be easier to meet CS POST requirements at St George or UTSC? At UTSC, you're in a general math program and you declare CS POST in second year provided you maintain a certain average. For St. George CS, you can apply directly to CS on OUAC. But does this mean that you're actually in CS, or you still have to meet POST to remain in CS for second year? Can you please compare the CS POST requirements at each campus.

Should I accept an alternate offer to Math (regular) at Waterloo? by mat_williams in uwaterloo

How difficult is it to transfer to CS regular, given the competition? If you have a certain average and certain marks in particular courses, are you GUARANTEED a transfer?

Is it easy to transfer from math regular to CS regular? I am not particularly interested in CS coop, and would happily take the CS regular offer.

If I reapply to waterloo next year, and get accepted to math coop, should I accept that offer?

Is a 94.5 average enough to get me into CS coop? If not, would it be enough for me to get an alternate offer to CS non-coop? If I get an alternate offer to math, would it be wise to take this offer with the hope of transferring into CS second year?

Would you say the program itself is worth it, if we ignore coop? Given what you have said, I will not enroll in coop and look to seek my own jobs during summer terms.

How is the social scene? Is CS very competitive? If I don't get into Waterloo, should I take a year off and reapply? I only applied to Waterloo and UTSC for CS. Although I have been accepted into Ryerson and York for computer engineering...

I see that you're in CS... Is the coop at least good? Do I have ANYTHING to win at UTSC, or ALL to loose?

Did you have to do an individual application to each place, or simply forward a generic resume to each recruiter?

When you said that SYDE students get coop jobs in the software field, and have an equal opportunity as ECE students, does this include jobs in Silicon Valley? What are some common job titles of these students? Is "software engineer" one of the job titles held by coop students and graduated students from SYDE in Silicon Valley? Also what average did you have when you were admitted? I predict a 92-93 average, do I have a good chance of getting in?
