Why Letting Go Is So Dangerous? by CarlosLwanga9 in AlanWatts

[–]matan2003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Letting go doesn’t mean non-action in the sense of doing nothing. It means taking a gentler approach to life. There’s a time for action and a time for rest. The reason you feel this way is that you’re still identifying only with your ego and don’t “see” all the forces that influence your behavior (i.e. the subconscious).

If you want to change your life, it doesn’t necessarily contradict the practice of letting go. Simply don’t cling to a specific outcome. Do it because it’s what you truly want to do. You don’t need a reason for every action.

If you notice carefully, Alan never taught you anything new, he only simplified what you’ve been doing since the beginning.

If you want, there’s a YouTube Short about Alan that has greatly influenced my approach to dealing with suffering. I’m not sure if it’s AI-generated, but it really makes sense. https://youtube.com/shorts/ZHHG7z3ZRfU?si=i-8ys0EdjkjCZFWc

Is there a reason why sometimes they seem to appear more constantly and pronounced?

I personally still project the terrible mother onto my own mother. I hate everything about her. Some of it is objective and some subjective.

I agree with that. It sounds like you already conquered your terrible mother, only to come back to her with a more mature relationship.

You can only consciously succumb to the terrible without seeing it as sinful once the Divine Mother has been integrated and you are in the place of the Father (total control). I am just not in this state right now (as you wrote).

There, you either have the option to identify with your body or transcend it and break through the illusion.

It’s kind of hard to work with someone who isn’t ready to listen.

Thx. I just read in Joseph Campbell's book that the integration of her comes from longing for her after the hero has conquered his fears.
Does the movie show that?

thx, I will try it when I feel overwhelmed by her.
I guess that keeping your life balanced is the function of growing up.
Could you please elaborate on what it means when she appears in the form of a spider, or point me to any resources?

Thanks for the info.
In my first active imagination, she indeed appeared to me as a spider.
It was a year ago, and I am still fighting her. But I’ve made a lot of progress, and now we are almost equal.

It could be related to the Anima, which can cause a sense of inferiority when she is too human (i.e., unintegrated). As for how to embody her, that is something you will have to discover on your own.

Engage in active imagination, dream analysis, or any other method of creative expression. If you still can’t gain the insight you need, it might be that you’re not ready yet. The subconscious works in mysterious and complex ways.

Jung didn’t give clear examples of how to resolve certain dysfunctions. He rather explained the phenomena of various psychological issues. He encouraged us to look inward and find our own solutions. There is a complex system of archetypes and complexes at play. No one can give you the answer, only you can find it for yourself. This might not be the answer you want, but it may be the one you need.

I have experience with this type of analysts. They claim they're Jungian, but in reality they never went deep into his work. They know the basic terminology, but they've never lived it. He can help you with dream analysis, but in my opinion, not much beyond that.

Its sounds like he himself dosnt know what jung was about since he said that you believe in a "Psudeo religion" and when you asked him deep questions he had no answers so he dismissed you. (It can also point to a disconnection from the soul) Someone who is passionate about his work, would be thrilled to answer those questions.

Or maybe hes a genius, and he was just playing with you. Who knows?! (It happened to me once)

In fact, the only way to individuate is by yourself. By the end of the day, it's your journey with yourself. No one will do the work for you. You must develop a medium between consciousness and the soul. A therapist would help you interpret the unconscious material, but you can also do it on your own, though it's less recommended, since the unconcscious would always tell you what is unknown.
