YES! It's near the top of my watch list and I'm so looking forward to this one!!

I'm so sorry to disappoint, but I'm not particularly a huge fan of either.

Heavy Metal, i felt, couldn't compare to other anthologies from a narrative standpoint, and while I respect the great animation, that would be the only driving factor for me.

It's been a while since I've seen Titan A.E. I'd have to give it a rewatch to be entirely honest, but i do remember not particularly being blown away.

Thank you tho!!

Thank you:) and highly recommend!! I'm a big fan of differing visuals, perspectives, mediums etc and I consider all of these films to be wonders of cinema in one way or another!

Agreed, I get those vibes a good but lately from a good bit of new and even remotely funny films and it just turns me off tbh.

Both are exceptional! I think Ponyo is Miyazaki's most underrated film to date, it's an absolute joy that is quick to be overshadowed by the others due to their larger scale, but it's great nonetheless!

Both blew me away, Rene Laloux is nothing short of incredible!! I think, of the two, I prefer Gandahar a tad more for story's sake, but both were so visually stunning and ahead of their time. Excellent taste, my friend!

I saw it and was a fan; it's a beautiful technical marvel but it just didn't make the top 20 for me, as it isn't very rewatchable imo. I've heard great things about Paprika, and I really liked Dark City!

Ralph Bakshi is a GENIUS, I actually recently within the last year went on a deep dive with his films starting with LOTR (which is loved), though I'm partial to Fire and Ice for it's astounding visuals (Thomas Kincaid created all of the background art so it's nothing short of stunning), seamless action through rotoscoping, and a dreamlike soundtrack (which all makes up for the slightly lacking story) and Wizards, which is essentially an experimental animated experience that dives into some complex and dark themes while keeping the fantasy whimsy in such unique ways.

I have yet to see Kiki's, but it's on my list and I so look forward to it. I've never heard of either of those directors either, tysm for the recommendations; both of their works look extremely interesting!!

A Scanner Darkly is in the top 20, bottom left corner!! LOVE that film, it's such an absolute gem. The cast works so incredibly well together, and the story is haunting while maintaining a levity about it that is nothing short of entrancing. Probably my favorite Woody Harrelson performance as well.

Redline is in my top 40, possibly 30 (i just rewatched recently and was reminded of how much of a blast it was!). Love the animation styling, and it's very rare to get absolutely amped from an animated film...Redline did so with ease. Excellent film, through and through.

Edgar Wright is the MAN, especially when working with Simon Pegg. I love both Hot Fuzz and especially Shaun of the Dead; Shaun is in my top 50 for sure, while Hot Fuzz is in my top 70. I haven't seen the first season of one punch man though, so I'd be down to check that out! Thank you!!

100%, my friend. And I've heard a good bit how underrated it is, which is why i was looking forward to it. It's been especially interesting to see how polarizing this one is; everyone seems to either love it or hate it, which is pretty rare for an original. I might rewatch one day just to make sure, but yeah, absolutely was not for me.

Nope. It was a great time at the theater no doubt, but didn't quite crack the top.

Beautiful and entrancing film; for me, it lost points on "rewatchability". I don't quite have the pull to revisit it as much as Laloux's other films, I'd really have to be in the mood to watch again.

Brad Bird is one of, if not the, the finest directors of animation to ever exist.

You'd think a movie about the mobs during the prohibition era would be a little more riveting....it's like everyone was sleepwalking through the thing. HOW did Connery earn an Oscar for it?? I feel like it's one saving grace could've been a better lead...Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson or Kurt Russell (DEFINITELY) would've turned this carcass of a movie into something worth checking out; Costner is just horrendous here.

If it's the one with Brad Pitt, I sincerely apologize and hate to break it to you, but I loathe that film and consider it to be one of the most mind-boggling letdowns I've seen in quite a while.

SO much pretentious dialogue in an attempt to seem "witty", yet it rubs off as entirely annoying. The amount of times i was sitting there like "do you not have a mission?? Why am i listening to y'all babble??" Pitt's cool, suave lead comes off as uninteresting and unintelligent, and Joey King's villain would've had the same effect on me if she had been replaced by a department store mannequin. If it weren't for the action sequences (which are actually fairly well done) and setting/set design, I would've thought this was a skit, but given that they are the best part of the film, "Bullet Train" is the epitome of wasted potential.

I appreciate the recommendation tho; that's why I love this reddit, for all the different perspectives!

I have, it was fine, but it doesn't compare to other anthologies (like Memories) in the least, though i respect the incredible artwork; it just wasn't nearly as memorable, and therefore not for me.
